I don’t know if this is the right forum so admin please relocate if necessary.

I have recently purchased a generator “as-is” and I’m sure it needs a carburetor. It’s a Harbor Freight Predator 8750. I will need help finding the correct identification of the engine, so I can buy parts. Is it a Generic Briggs, Honda or what, or is it actually a Harbor Freight? Thanks

Also get some carb cleaner and soak existing carb in warm solution/parts cleaner for a few days. Shake it every few hours.

Hi mm08822 and Davefr, thanks. I had just returned from the Harbor Freight site with the same link in tow. I had always believed that HF never carried replacement parts for their stuff. Well, live and learn I guess.

In the past few years, I haven't been cleaning carbuerators because they are so cheap. I also discovered a bunch of replacement carbs for that generator on Amazon ranging from $16 and up. Some even more pricy than the OEM model. They mention something about a motor control. What is that all about?

stepper motor adjusts the throttle/rpm . I had a cheap inverter generator from walmart and it would over rev right out of the box. there was something in the stepper motor circuit that would not allow it to lower the rpm. took it back & exchanged it for another one & it was fine

Thanks Cobbler.

I have ordered a carb. from Amazon. It will be here Sunday. I started to clean the carburator but I buggered up the screwdriver slot on the thing that screws into the bowl support so I went ahead and bought a new carb. after all.

Thanks for all the support.
