Generator Service Disconnect?

So you have no exterior disconnect to shutoff the power regardless of where its coming from?
Also the main panel will become a subpanel and the ATS will be the new main.

The only thing exterior is the meter for utility power. (Which is located on the other side of the house about 85' away from the generator)
Actually, no the ATS will be a sub-panel to the main panel. The ATS a 100-Amp Transfer Switch w/ 16-Circuit Load Center.

So why isn’t it the disconnect?Yes there is a Circuit breaker under the hood of the generator.

Does your generator have a neutral bond? if it does you need to remove it because the ATS doesnt switch the neutral. this means running 4-wires from your generator to your ATS.The only thing exterior is the meter for utility power. you also need to check if the ATS has a bonded neutral. If it does then you cant use it as a subpanel unless the bond can be removed. I skimmed through the manual and couldnt find any info on whether it has a bonded neutral.

I recall reading that some of the Generac's had a disconnect external to the hood for this reason....I'm not sure, would it be because it could be locked under the hood? My understanding is all Generac standby generators are floating neutral and are not bonded. There are 4 wires to be run from the generator to the ATS. it would be real easy to check. set a DVM to ohms, test from neutral bar to grnd on both the generator and ATS. shouldnt be continuityMy understanding is all Generac standby generators are floating neutral and are not bonded.
