Does it have a nameplate that you can post a Pic of?
Once started up, it should run on a 1kw, but the startup current will be a lot higher. My guess is you'd need a 3kw and even then, it might trip the generator if it can't react fast enough.
I had a 1/2hp pump that would run fine on my 5.5kw inverter generator and a 7kw regular generator, but I never tried it on less.

Rough rule of thumb: surge watts in the generator should be 3x the running draw of the motor. A 3/4 230V pump running current is 6.9 amps; this would suggest that you'll want about 5000 watts surge. A 4KW (running) generator may well work.

I believe a 3000 watt model that's not inverter would work. 2500 might work but I wouldn't take the chance.

For my 1/2 hp well, I bought the smallest generator I could find with a 240v receptacle on it. Ended up with a 6500w

When sizing a generator, IMHO, you should consider "mission creep" because there will always be something else that you will be requested to power.
