Generator Wiring with Interlock

Ordered the stuff to do a generator connection from my portable generator. Weather is getting worse around here every year and we sometimes lose power for 6+ hours.

Generator is a Coleman 6K, according to the panel is it already floating neutral, I will verify. 220v plug is a L14-20

Inlet is to a combo meter panel/main breaker/4 breaker panel. This then runs into the main panel at the house. I found a generator interlock for this panel.

Where I am not sure of is how to connect the ground. I have seen several posts about adding a ground to the chassis of the generator, but nothing conclusive

I can see 3 options -

1. Red, Black and White wires connect from inlet plug to panel, ground leg on plug goes to separate ground rod

2. All 4 wires connect from inlet plug to panel, generator has a ground connected to the frame of the unit (I will weld on a bolt)

3. Only red, black and white connect from inlet plug to panel, ground connected to generator

Attached crude diagram may help

Do #2. Frame should already be grounded by the equipment ground in the gen. Be sure the neutral is floating at the gen.

Edit: I didn't look at the image, so I see you're welding on the bolt to add a ground to a rod. That's okay for added lighting strike protection, but is not absolutely needed.
