GenerLink and NEC code?

I ran across this in another forum. https://www.generlink.com/generlink.html I'm wondering about if it's NEC code compliant in North Carolina? Can you put let's say a 40A one of these in and just run a small portable generator or is there something in the NEC code that would prevent it?

Your utility needs to be on board, most importantly. I'd start with them

If you can get an interlock for your panel, and can DIY install the inlet box, that is a pretty simple and less expensive option than those generlink setups, too

forget the question about the NEC, Im sure its a listed device.

what you need to find out is if your PoCo will even allow that behind their meter. most do not.

Generlink is a listed device, and as mentioned they may or may not be allowed by your local electric utility so you need to check with them first before buying one.

Kinda what I'm thinking, but it does look neat, but not cheap!

I have a generlink, been used twice in ten years or so. Works perfectly, it was installed by my POCO and sold and serviced thru them. They encourage those of us with a portable generator to do so. This is, per the POCO, much safer for us and them as there is nearly zero risk for all, as opposed to the common homebrew generator connections. YMMV

I have a Generlink and have used it 3 times in the past week. I have had it for 15 years. Ontario Hydro recommends them. They are not cheap, but are more useful then a sub panel, as they energize the entire panel and allow you to decide what gets power. I run my whole house from a 8kw Generac generator. My house is heated by natural gas. It was a 1hr charge to have it installed by the local electrician.
