Genie Blue Max opener: Weird problem

Hello,
I have an oldish Genie Blue Max screw drive opener that, occasionally, will not operate. The symptom is that there is absolutely no response to a button press. No sound or motion. This can be cured by either:
1. waiting for maybe 10 minutes seems to cure it, or
2. turning the screw drive by even a few degrees by hand.

I have replaced the PCB and the starting capacitor. Bypassing the switch does not help. The mechanism operates quite quietly when it works, and the door is well balanced. When it isn't working, it doesn't even try to move, so I don't think the clutch or inductive detector thingy are involved.

It's a fairly rare problem, maybe once every 30 operations in normal use.

Any thoughts?
Doug

What about the limit switch at either end? Or the trolley getting bound up?

The trolley (and everything mechanical) is moving easily.
I'm not sure what you mean with respect to the limit switches? At either end of the travel, the limit switch seems to work correctly to stop the motion. And, if the "top" limit switch was bad, for example, that wouldn't stop the door going down, would it?
Thx.
