Can't find much review wise on these. How are the Genius hex bit sockets? Looking at several of the sets. 1/4" and 3/8" drive, short, long and ball.

Very good quality. I have several sets. Snap on or Nepros are better, but Genius is on par with the other Taiwanese contenders.

Yeah, that's what concerns me. Several of the Taiwan made have quite a few broken bit reviews. It is hard to know if any one brand is better than the other.

Trouble is many of them have the most complete sets with the best storage layouts ( or I should say storage layouts that I like).

There doesn’t seem to be much to choose between any of these Taiwanese bits. They’re o.k. probably the “minimum acceptable”.

Snap On, Nepros, Koken, Stahlwille, Hazet etc are all better, but all more costly.

Personally, I’ve twisted a lot of these things. If I was buying again I’d probably get Koken for general use. They seem quite resistant to twisting (especially the short ones) and they sell you replacement hex inserts very reasonably.

The best I’ve found are probably the Hazet. They make two styles, one piece and two piece, and the one piece are really tough. Only available in 1/4 and 1/2 drive though!

I’m in the U.K. though, if you’re in the U.S. the choices may be different!

I’ve had snap on and even a old matco set that both broke. Only difference in them two brands is the fact the tool truck guy will come and replace it, whereas I’ve had the cheap Taiwan brand, haven’t broke one yet, and at the cost I got the snap on or Matco version I could have bought 3-4 Taiwan ones
