Genius Tool vs. Snap-on extra long box end wrenches

I own a SO set of 15* offset 12 pt long double box wrenches I use mainly on header bolts and other hard to reach stuff. this is the hot ticket for headers with pretty bends and huge primaries that make it a PITA to actually tighten them so the gaskets never leak.

I want to get a set of 0* offset, but since they don't see much use and at 3-4X more, I am willing to give something else a try.

Anyone own / use the genius long wrenches and how are they holding up for you?

I havent seen a set of those particular Genius wrenches but the ones that I have seen look to be a quality tool. I would not be afraid to purchase them. FYI, I carry a set of of Genius combination wrenches on the tool bag of my ATV.

Have you looked at the Cornwells? They are not cheap, but they are the best offering imho. If you wait for them to go on sale, they're not too bad price-wise. (note that they run them on sale at 2 different prices -- one that's an extremely big discount, the other not so much)

Make sure you check the included sizes.
I noticed the Genius set (metric) has many duplicated sizes, for some reason.

13MM X 15MM
14MM X 17MM

I think my Snap On set has two 15 mm in it. I am certain it has at least one size that has a duplicate.

I use ARP 12 point 5/16 head 3/8X1 stainless header bolts in my Chevelle. I have no trouble getting a wrench on them. Ended my header leak woes

I think it's 14x15 and 15x16. I have a set too.

I have the SAE set from Genuis and I'm very satisfied. IIRC, they are longer than the SO. I also have the 15* SAE splines from SO and wanted some 0*. I only bought the Genius because I really don't use them much and couldn't justify buying the SO to use 1-2 times a year.

Some large primary tube SBC headers have very little clearance depending on what chassis they're in. these long wrenches and 12 pt. ARP's keep things snug for sure.

I have the SAE set from Genuis and I'm very satisfied. IIRC, they are longer than the SO. I also have the 15* SAE splines from SO and wanted some 0*. I only bought the Genius because I really don't use them much and couldn't justify buying the SO to use 1-2 times a year.

I don't think I've ever used an 11mm anything. All my 11's are brand new

Yeah I ran into that probem with some of the big inch SBC, The cure was a set of Stahl adaptor plates.

Beware the v8 tools.most definitely junk and not made by the same manufacturer.my experiences with their tools has been all bad.Atd is OK but not on par with genius.I think Kabo makes the good ones.

Try XDHF1214 for the flat wrench XDH1214A might be the 15* one

I have a set of those and think they are utterly awful. Have of them skipped teeth out the box and love to switch directions when you put force on them

I'm pretty sure he meant the High Performance ones and not the ratcheting variety. Thread is 7 years old though so can't say for sure.

I've got a beautiful TOPTUL set up on EBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/122547176949?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 the problem with it is that it's made for Asian cars and doesn't include 13mm, 15mm or 18mm which they simply don't use over there. TOPTUL didn't exclude these wrenches from the set they simply don't make these sizes in the zero offset style.

In all fairness the Genius set is very nice. The handles are square and not as comfortable as the TOPTUL. Don't forget these wrenches are really long and it's likely you're going to be reefing on them pretty good so that does matter at high torque levels.
