That is interesting, can anyone tell me a distributer and what type of warranty the tools have?

Most Genius tools have a lifetime warranty. There are few exceptions. Reducing adaptors are the one thing that I can think of off the top of my head that are not warrantied.

I have sold Genius tools for two years and I have yet to have to warranty a socket. The ratchets need to be rebuilt occasionally under heavy professional use. I stock some of the more popular socket sets. I am going to try and take some pics and post some ads in the classifed section over the holidays. I will probably be ordering some of the wrench sets to sell on here as well.

Genius has some pretty decent tools. Our heavy equipment guys really like them. We have been selling them since 2001. We don't have many warranty claims. The ones we do have Genius stands behind them 100%. They haven't rejected any of our claims to date. Our customers are not too fond of their pliers though. The Wrenches and impact sockets are top notch.

From the looks of the video, they make a good product.

The couple things that stuck out the most is the vibratory deburring, the belt sander deburring, and the rack plating. All three of these are pretty time consuming / labor intensive / expensive. They could easily cheap out on all of those things but they didn't.

That video doesn't play on mine ... I probably don't have the right player installed or something. Does it show a bunch of Chinese people working? :D

I have their roto ratchets with plastic handles and the torque sticks along with some lug nut suckets, they are all top notch. I wouldn't ever hesitate to buy them over snap on. I want more of their stuff if I can find some cheap prices, but amazon has been good in the past for me and the genius stuff.

Since they are made by rotar group which makes toptul, are they any better or worse or the same quality as toptul?

Well at risk of putting my foot in my mouth (considering I don't have experience with either) I would imagine they are probably pretty similar considering they are both made by rotor group and sold at similar price points.

I think they are equal in quality and only have cosmetic differences such as handle shape and color. I've always thought that there are only one or two tool manufacturers in Taiwan that pump out the same tools with different color and shaped handles, with different packaging for all of the different tool brands.

If you need to return them to Genius for warranty, you must include proof of purchase. As for the items not covered under the warranty, this is from their site:

Non-Warranty

a. Due to the nature of the product, all Reducing Adapters, Stud Bolt Sockets, Torque Calibration, Cuttings, Extractors, Files, Punches, Chisels, Wobble Extension Bars, Thin Wall Sockets, Swivel Sockets, plastic- or rubber-made materials such as handles, items that are 6.35mm in size and under and discontinued items are not covered by any warranty.

That is alot of stuff, I can understand why maybe some of the items should have a limited warranty but NO warranty what so ever is a bit ODD. It may be just a disclaimer to ward off the weak also.

Kinda makes SK look a LOT better now doesn't it....

Go to their site and read the warranty section. They also list "worn" tools as not being covered by their warranty. Scroll on down to the bottom of the page after reading and take a look at the photos:

If that was a Harbor Freight video would they show the station where they add the smell? :lol_hitti

LOL.

I have a feeling Harbor freight factorys arnt quite as advanced, i picture chinese people with hammers forgeing tools out of popcans. Not robots makeing tools.

The warrentee is why if i buy taiwan tools, i;ll buy them from ACE or Mike wren, his website says all tools have a full lifetime warrentee for anyone.

I second that. I'll stick with Gearwrench, Blue-Point, and Sunex for my asian tool purposes. At least they have hassle free warranties.

Does anybody have any proof that Genius is made by the Rotar group? I have heard that from others on GJ.com say they are made by them but by searching the Internet I can't find anything to back that up? I did find that they both have an address in Taichung, Taiwan but looks like that is a large city of over a million people. Just wondering.

Thanks

I have a set of 3/8 impact universals there great. I find they don't rotate as much as snap on and mac's universals do but they do seem just as strong. I even use them with my 1/2 impact gun with a adepter and they don't show any ware. I got a set 8mm to 19mm for 60 bucks Canadian cant go wrong with that price.

The only thing about the warranty that concerns me is the discontinued item part.

The rest of them are perfectly understandable. I'm not one of those tools that buys a 30 year old screw driver that is mostly worn out, bends it using it as a pry bar then demands a replacement.

I have this crazy thing called integrity and expect a company to have the same.

Writing a warranty like that makes me not want to trust them. All they have to do is change the part numbers and all the previously made items are no longer warranted. That is horse $hit.

Would that include impact universals or just chrome?
