I noticed under the alliance page on thegaragejournal we get 40% off genius tools, do they make good tools? If so what are some of the tools you have, I'm pretty interested in the ratcheting wrenches. What do you guys think?

I have a set of triple square bits. They are held in loosely in the smaller sizes, with set collars in the larger. I used them for quite a while before I went to VIM. Probably well within the quality margin for home use.

Some of their stuff is stupid overpriced, others quite fair, at least via amazon pricing. If I had to guess, they're a Taiwanese importer who buys from the same people who feed ampro, OEM, neiko, etc. Long offset box wrenches have the same design credited to "infar", suspected supplied to channellock and carlyle, for their funky open ends. FWIW, I have a set of the carlyles with that gnarly open end, they're simply "okay".

They once sold semi-deep 1/2 drive impact sockets, the only seller outside snap on I've seen to do so. They became discontinued before I purchased a set and I regret it to this day.

As for the triple squares; I still have them, they still work fine. VIM is a much superior product, but I got the genius from a member on here IIRC. VIM is also more expensive, YMMV.

I have some Genius impact sockets, they've not seen much use as they where odd filler sizes, looked to be pretty good in terms of fit form and function tho, but no real long term use reports from me :(

If you don't already have a set of extra long 0 offset double box end wrenches the Genius set is good although it is missing some US centric metric sizes just like the Toptul set.

They once sold semi-deep 1/2 drive impact sockets, the only seller outside snap on I've seen to do so. They became discontinued before I purchased a set and I regret it to this day.

Now I feel bad I didn't buy them. A reasonably priced mid depth inpact set would be awesome. I suppose as a real GJ member I should just buy a 3/8 impact and a whole master set of sockets but I'm going to put that off until the day I find a time where nothing else would work.

Hopefully someone else will get them made.

Genius today I believe have all their tools make in Taiwan. I have a couple of set of impact sockets, chrome extensions, torx/hex sockets & E-torx sockets. They are good mid-range tools IMO with lifetime warranty. They are far from bottom of the barrel tools but definitely not top shelf either. For the money they are good value & suitable for daily use. Give em a go @40% off.

I have some 1/2 impact deep metric sockets for 15 or more years used them a ton on Semi-trucks. never had one brake even with new high power impacts. I would say they were a good buy. They are thicker wall then my MAC or Snap-on impact sockets but I never had a issue getting them in anywhere.

I have the long, low profile double box end wrenches (they look identical to the Snap On set that costs an arm and a leg) and they kick ***.

I considered Genius after dumping TOPTUL. My conclusion was lower quality and higher priced than TOPTUL but having domestic back up and support which TOPTUL does not. I like their zero offset long box wrenches and they, unlike TOPTUL, include the sizes that are common on American cars e. g. 13, 15 and 18mm in their sets. Overall impression = average. About the same quality as Sonic and Teng but with better pricing.

I have used Genius impact sockets for 15 years, 1/2" ,3/4" and a few 1" drive never had any problems at all. Recently I have seen their hand tools but as they do not offer anything I don't already have I cannot comment on those.

All I have to offer is my opinion of their impact sockets, which are perfectly fine in my opinion. I've abused their 1/2 and 3/4 drive sockets professionally for a while, and have zero complaints.

I’ve had extremely good luck with the bit sockets/Torx bits, the ratchets are Ho-hum. I have there 1/4 and 3/8 master socket sets with case that I picked up for less than a $100 about 5 years ago, No complaints once you toss the ratchet. If you are warranty junkie, expect to abuse there tools and have another one handed over... Look elsewhere. When I had thoughts of becoming a reseller of the Genius Line, they are very dedicated to making sure that you understand the difference between abused and manufacturing defects for warranty purposes. With that said... they are fairly cheap across the interwebs.
