Genius tools are slowly gaining a good reputation where I work and in australia. My father has had his set and used them (as a heavy diesel mechanic) for over 5 years now and hasnt broken a single one. I now have a set in my box at work and they are great. They are of reasonable price, about the same as sidchrome/ kc tools etc but was just wondering what people know about them?

Im pretty sure they are taiwanese made but just wondered if anyones tryed them! (other than me) will post some pics of them soon

I have a friend who runs a small 2 bay shop and Im sure he has there complete set. Ive personally handled most of the tools out of curiousity and they seem well built, They are in fact Taiwan made though.

the socket set and oil filter wrench are both excellent quality for the price. Also they are priced appropriately for being made overseas. I think they have a 5 year warranty and they change the design every few years so you can tell the era. But the price is good enough I would have a problem buying them again if they broke.

I bought their 10 piece torque extension bar set. It's top quality. I want to get more of their tools.

Most of the sets they sell come in a heavy blow molded tray that keeps them organized in the drawer.

I have had good luck with Genius tools with the exception of their round head ratchets. The ratchets just dont seem to hold up to professional use. Their sockets, extensions, and torx bits are quality tools.

The Williams stuff from yuetaoye on eBay is great... I bought two ratchets and a few other tools from him.

BUT, the only Genius item I bought was a set of precision screwdrivers, and they were COMPLETE JUNK. Cheap feel, soft tips that got mangled easily... terrible. Never again.

Ive found that the Genius stuff is much cheaper via Amazon and Tool sellers across the internet. Ive never bought any Genius stuff but i have handled it at my friends shop. The Regular Screwdrivers dont have the heft of the Snap on, Wiha etc but there not bad. It all depends on your price point and what your looking for out of your tool.

I don't have any, but I'm considering this set.

The finish looks excellent

edit: another auction with good pictures, but I don't trust this seller

I have also purchased stuff from this seller. He's an excellent seller in my book. I lost out on one of his auctions and asked him if he wouldn't mind selling me a set at my highest bid. Offered me a Second Chance auction without question.

I would wait for Tooltopia to have one of their free shipping on orders over $50 and get it from them.

I won their 1/4 drive master set in a contest and unloaded it on Ebay as I found the ratchet coarse, roughly finished, and both the sae and metric sockets had the same knurling at the base of each socket.
I also find slightly deceptive that they use a maple leaf on their logo, catalogs, and other information. I know they're from Taiwan but, someone might mistake them as being from Canada.
I have seen more than a few independent tool trucks in California hawking Genius Tools. I think if you shop around they're a decent alternative to higher price tools if you need one but, don't think that you're getting a super quality tool at a bargain price.

I have NO PROOF or personal experience with the seller yuetaoye, but I always was suspicious that he or she had shill bidders. The prices always seemed to skyrocket.

Again, I have no proof, it was just my suspicion from watching a lot of his auctions.
