Greetings, I figured as an introduction I'd toss up some pics of my humble shop space. I have a two car attached garage and a 24x36 attached shop. It would be plenty of space, except I'm pretty heavy into woodworking, occasionally boat building as well as mechanical work and the occasional bike build. I'm working on adding a 26x40 addition to the shop, but that'll be next spring before I get started. (BTW, I did not build the shop. Unlike the builder, I actually own a tape measure...)

About me, I'm a machinist by day and formerly worked in the auto restoration business. There's much more, but I can't let out all my secrets at once....

Occasionally my shop even does duty as a daycare for my most precious people on earth!!

I'll post up some threads along the way of my various projects...

I really enjoy building boats. I've completed two boats, and one canoe so far and I have the pictured canoe, a kayak and standup paddleboard under construction. The cedar canoe is a Gilpatrick design named "Puddle Duck" and will hopefully be finished this fall. Depending on how quick and cold our winter hits I may not have it in the water until next year though.

The straps are holding it for some epoxy to dry. Sadly the canoe was in a shop related accident and I had to patch a small place on it. I have a little more sanding and one more coat of epoxy this weekend and then I'll be ready to put the first layer of fiberglass cloth on it, hopefully next weekend.

Thanks for looking,
George

Looks like another luncheon union meeting wondering when that mini bike is going to get an engine.

Great space & family.

Sweet little setup.. my girls love garage time with dad.. as long as there's no power tools or loud noises they're always welcome with me..

Ps... people still build boats? Haha.. not something you see everyday. [emoji6] [emoji106] [emoji631]

Also.. couple "I spy" notes.. i see a drywall lift (which fits in neither of your listed occupations) and I'm super curious about the stencil on the wall. . Have you had issues with your house being shot at or something?

Good eye! I bought the drywall lift to hang the ceiling, I'm the guy that would rather buy a tool than rent it. As to the stencil, I'm a former firearms instructor and spend a lot of time at the gun club. That was for designating target zones at our muzzleloader club.

I'll dig some up at home later. It was actually involved in a slight shop accident and I had to patch a hole in it, as a result I'll be finishing it in paint instead of bright (natural) finish. Oh well, I learned enough on this one that the next one will be awesome!!

Finish the canoe in bright natural, paint a symbol or just "ouch" over the damaged spot.

I thought about that, but there are several parts of the boat that were "learning experiences" so I'm ok with paint. I'll probably finish the interior bright, or do a two-tone of some sort. The bullet hole patch would be interesting......
