I have, but in an effort to move away from all things Craftsman I ended up buying Knipex direct from Chad's toolbox.

I'm not really into the whole rebranding thing.

In reference to the pliers though, Knipex makes an awesome product, NWS are okay too. I actually can't wait to get more Knipex in my drawer.

I personally applaud Craftsman for outsourcing to arguably the best plier maker in the business when they could have outsourced them to China.

I bought the two pack with 10" and 7" when they were one sale. Much cheaper than buying them separate as Knipex brand ones and much easier to take have replaced like MoToys pointed out.

When ever I need a pair of pliers these are what I reach for most times unless I need a specialized type.

I wished they did more European COO for their Chinese wrenches.

The sears by me sells the knipex and the cman rebranded knipex, and the knipex have always been cheaper.
:headscrat

yes, mine too. i buy the knipex branded, but i can see why the craftsmans might be better at a slightly higher price for the ease of warranty

the rebrand is a good tool, and are one of the best made non usa tools they sell. Really like the german design. Being able to lock while pushing down on the top, really allows for allot of bite pressure to prevent slipping.

There other good non us made craftsman that are good, their pass throughs ratchets set. Made in china but very good for the task, and the taiwan slim profile are very good ratchets as well.

My Irwin's have done me good for years, and have held up just fine. They get the job done with ease and handle everything I can throw at them.

To each their own

I would guess the Craftsman branded ones go on sales that make them cheaper than the Knipex versions some times.

i have never seen the craftsman version on sale for less than the knipex on sale price.

not to say it doesnt happen though..

the irwins are useable, but not even in the same league. the dimensions of the jaws are much more clunky in my opinion.

The double set did on on sale for under 30 dollars about a month or so ago. But there knipex and the craftsman are not the same knipex. The new knipex has more engaging teeth. The craftman is the older model knipex that they still sell with 11 teeth.

Didn't know about this difference. Do you have both?

I have them at work, not personally. That is why I know there is a difference. Knipex markets both the higher and lower teeth count ones. The high teeth count cost a bit more. I have the wiha version for home.

I bought a set the craftys a few months back. 26, 29 or something dollars for the pair. IIRC it was one of those craftsman club specials

I think the wide-opening are an updated design and the knipex style like the craftsman is discontinued. Not positive though. I have a set of the cobras and while they're obviously great quality I'm undecided on whether or not I like the button. I'm thinking about buying a set of alligators.

You can get both in germany still. But they might be starting to phase out the older cobras for the new one with more engaging teeth.
