I have been looking to replace my plain old slip joint pliers. Do the Combimax 109 style fill that function?

Yes and no, the slip joint pliers whose pivot point can be moved to increase the size range of their jaws which the combimax does not have but the combimax has cutters, spanner, gripping zone for round and flat material and area to grab nails.

It's not in production just yet, but when it will be available i will be getting it in. I'm also trying to get handles in the different variations, so if someone want to get handles in the color they want.

That would be so sweet.

Also, sorry to bother you across the thread, but since I have your attention, are you able to obtain:

1451-69-180?
1451-49-180?
148-69-205?

And do they even carry a 148-49-205? I didn't find it on their homepage, but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Yes, I will be stocking the 1451, they haven't started shipping them just yet same for the 148-69-205. I haven't heard anything on the 148-49-205 just yet.

Just wanted to let everyone know Ash completed my order quickly and the freight was less than I expected.
Really like the Felo screwdrivers and NWS pliers. Will be buying more in the future.

Got a few more items today, getting to be a spendy web page for me to visit but I certainly don't regret it, worth every penny. Ash, of course, got them to me in just a couple of days as usual.

PS. Ash, thanks for the great catalogs this time, nice touch. My reading room was in desperate need of new material and these fit the bill exquisitely.

Well I didn't get them until I got home from work tonight so they're still brand new. I haven't had the need to use them but I will soon. I can say they feel very nice and the leverage is definitely there in the larger set. I have no doubt that they will work well. I'll post a follow up as soon as I can. I will be cutting up some 2 gauge power/ground cable sometime this week.

I ordered from German-Hand-Tools around 4AM Eastern Time on April 7th. I was amazed that I received them today (April 10th). That is quicker than Amazon 2-day which I thought was insanely fast. Unbelievable awesome job, Ash. I am excited to order more stuff... Get more stuff I can buy!

Anyway, here is what I got:
http://i.imgur.com/bgzZa.jpg

Everything feels awesome quality, looks fantastic too. The Fantastico's cut through 8 gauge solid copper like butter. Here is the only issue I have seen...This has happened on all of the cutters so far:

It's hard to see it but the finish looks like its coming off. Any ideas?

Thanks

The finish on the cutting edges wearing away as you use them is pretty normal on the titan finish, it is not going to cause a issue with chipping the rest of the finish. The finish on there is a PTFE coating basically teflon coating. Here is more info on it : http://www.metcoat.com/ptfe-coatings.htm also http://www2.dupont.com/Teflon_Industrial/en_US/products/selection_guides/coatings.html

Ordered two sets of wire cutters on Friday, May 5. Shipped on Friday, May 5 and received on Monday, May 7. Wow!!!! Packaged in plastic wrap, then bubble wrap, then taped, then bubble wrapped, then taped, then placed in a cardboard envelope and taped again. Excellent vendor in every way, shape, and form. Thanks Ash!

Just received my second order for NWS pliers from German-Tools. As expected the pliers are excellent. Exactly sized for the intended application.

The customer service is something that has to be experienced to be believed. Same day shipping, tracking number, and followup email. If only all my internet vendors were this good.

If you are looking for NWS tools, there is simply no better place to get them. Very highly recommended!

Hi, no problem thanks for the business
I don't know anyone in north America in regards to Hazet items. The only guy I get my personal Hazet stuff is from jensputzier, he is a member on here and ships from germany at pretty reasonable prices. BGS also makes specialty tools as well which I can order. Take a look here http://www.bgstechnic.com/category.php?id=38

Hi, Ash: any chance you have considered importing Schmitz electronics pliers? I have heard some good things about them, but I haven't been able to find a US importer for them. (They are supposedly the OEM for CK, but that seems to result in pretty huge markup compared to what I see in Schmitz's EU web store...)

I haven't considered it yet, but I will look into it. NWS make some that look just like those. I will post some pictures of them tomorrow. Is there a particular Schmitz models that you are intrested in?

Now that you point it out, you're right, the Finish 79 ESD "ClassicLine ESD" do look rather Schmitz-like. I wonder if this is a case of imitation/similar stylings or Schmitz in fact being the supplier? If it is the latter, that would be very interesting -- I have a few pairs of the dipped-handle Finish 72 "ClassicLine" pliers (same type of plier with leaf spring and box joint) that I find to be only so-so and have had issues with the box joint on the chain nose getting sloppy after only a couple of months of use (and in fact that is my second pair: the first one came so bad out of the box it had to be warrantied right off the bat!), so that would make me worry if they are in fact the same...

The first two models of Schmitz I would want to try would be 4212HS22 (chain nose with serrations in the jaw) and 3616HS22 (oblique cutters with short cutting edge), neither of which have equivalents in the NWS lineup. If those passed muster, I would be interested in rounding out a set with straight flush cutters, smooth chain nose, flat nose, round nose, etc...but that would be a much longer-term plan than getting those two models.

Thanks for posting the pictures, those do look very Schmitz-like indeed. The springs appear to be better assembled than on my dipped-grip NWS electronics pliers, so that's at least a good sign.

Do the straight-tip chain nose close with the jaws parallel and no gap, or is there a gap/slight angle between them? Are the chain nose smooth-jawed? When you push any of the gripping-type pliers closed with somewhat firm pressure (but still in line with what you would expect to use them to do), can you feel any play in the box joint?

Thanks again for being so responsive!

When I place a order with BGS it takes a week for me to recieve the items, and it would ship to you the next day as long as everything was ok with the shipment.

They do close parallel, the tips come in more slightly and that is how they are designed and tips align perfectly. They are smooth jawed and no play in joint. Here are some more pics

Thanks no problem
At this point I can't say for sure on Wera, it could be a possibility in the next few months.
