I had posted in the Old World thread and was on the fence about blatantly double posting but you pushed me off the fence :bounce:

These came from Ash at German-Hand-Tools today. NWS flat nose (duckbill), Knipex X-Cut, Knipex 7" pliers wrench, and small NWS snap-ring pliers :)

Very nice! I have the duckbills and the x cuts and a few others coming. Very interested to find out how you like the snap ring pliers. I have a set of snap on's and though they work ok, those NWS ones look like they'd be a tad better.

I have a set of snap-ring pliers for larger size 25-60mm that I got a while back, these are for 10-25mm and are a fair bit smaller. They are amazing quality and so much nicer than any most any other snap ring pliers I have seen. They are a pleasure to use for sure.

Good to hear. May have to look at picking up a few sets once my paypal gets over the shock of my last order :scared:

Franzdom,

After some use, would you please post your feedback about the Knipex X-Cut plier? If you own any other makes of diagonal cutters, would you compare them to the X-Cut?

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks,

I have mostly NWS, and comparing a similar size NWS to these it seems the NWS cuts through tie wraps a lot smoother but I give the edge to the Knipex on cutting through small galvanized nails. These X-Cut are very smooth jointed, the NWS is noticably rougher even though I thought it was nice before I got the Knipex.

I recently received my order of NWS pliers, and reiterate what everyone else has said. Ash gives excellent customer service, the packaging is excellent, and the products are fantastic. There were no issues with shipping to Canada. I will certainly order from him again.

Well I am new to this forum. I have been on the outside for quite some time reading articles about one of my favorite subjects. TOOLS!!! I recently became a member and can tell you that I purchased 2 NWS hand extensions in the form of pliers.

One is the Fantastico Plus Chrome and the other is the 1406 ErgoMulti Chrome. WOW!! I can finally take the bib off. I own and have owned a lot of Klien and Channel lock hand tools and have no complaints with their performances, but I am having an adulteress love affair with these NWS's and I am not a bit ashamed or apologetic about it.

For those of you who are undecided on whether to get the Chrome or Titan, here is something to consider about the Chrome. First of all I am a big fan of the Chrome, but if you don't like oil stain discoloration then steer away from the chrome and head for the Titan. The oil discoloration is only noticed when the tool is in the open position and only between the tool itself. Man they really do oil these babies up! (PLEASE REFER TO THE ASH AND STEVE P THREADS AHEAD FOR A TECHNICAL CLARIFICATION OF THE FINISH DISCOLORATION) Despite that I am sold on the chrome but will probably buy a couple of Titans for easier identification with Chrome pliers of a similar profile.

I didn't write this to put down products that have performed for me long into my professional career. Klien and Channel lock have been wonderful girlfriends, but I finally found a partner I can live with for the rest of my life and for all the same reasons that many took to write about in this forum.

I want to end this message with a huge shout out to Ash and the extra care and attention to detail he has exhibited to a new customer. The buzz has been positive through out about this guy and he didn't disappoint. Ash I look forward to satisfying my NWS needs in the future with your company.

I really put my chrome fantastico's to work yesterday, had to cut off 3 small hose clamps that were stripped, and they cut through them like butter. I did notice some chrome removal but only on the very edge of the blade.

Chrome plated cutters and pliers are great for corrosion resistance and durability the only drawback is the cutting edges won't hold up as well and that goes for any brands. Even cutters that are unplated the cutting edges will wear, unfortunately there is no stopping this.

To elaborated on ArcStyles description of the chrome discoloration in between the inside joint area, I attached a photo. There is also a photo of a wiha that is the same way as well and I have also seen this on other brand as well. I have been told this is part of the normal plating process, and done so the thickness of the plating does not effect the clearances of the moving joint. This is most noticeable on the 138-49-200, 1406-49-200, 1096-49-200, 1311-49-200, and 137-49-240 but only when opened up.

Thanks for the info and the pics Ash. I only mentioned it because some people may find this to be a bit unsettling at first glance. Personally I like the reassurance the plating offers this tool buyer. I live on the coast and the moisture can play havoc on tools that are not well maintained. The plating is not intended to increase the performance of your tools. It is for protecting them from the things that will effect their efficiency like rust and chemicals. As for this tool buyer, it takes another element of concern off the table. The fact that they can offer this protection in a cool titan and chrome finish (and not pink pressure treated diamond dung made from barrels of defunct hamburger filler) is icing on the cake. Add to this FUNKTON QUALITAT + DESIGN and you have all the makings of one FANTASTY cake. Man it is good to be a tool user in these times!

this yellow discoloration is not oil contamination. it's nickel plate that's applied before the chrome. Chrome is only a flash plate and does not throw into recesses at that level of plate. I have NWS plated pliers and mine are like this also. They are not plated like wrenches with thick nickel and mirror chrome because this would screw up the joint movement.

Thank you for the clarification. The statement was not made to discourage the buyer. On the contrary I am now the proud owner of 15 NWS hand tools and counting. All of these tools have the chrome finish and any NWS hand tools I get in the future will sport this finish.

There was a thread earlier that commented on the aesthetics of an NWS tool. This is what I think that person was referring too. A minor thing compared to what oxidation can do to the aesthetics and the performance of a tool. I hope that no one took this to mean that I was unhappy in anyway and apologize if my meaning was not clear. The thread was designed to bring to light something that is common with this finish. Thanks to your thread everyone will know that this is a process to preserve the performance integrity of the tool and not a plating mishap. As Ash pointed out this finish is common in other brands as well.

An informed buyer is a happy buyer...

I picked up another (16 new NWS tools) order from Ash. This time from his place of sale. It was a pleasure meeting him in person. His hospitality and patience was second to none. I was really impressed with the design projects he got going there and hope he brings pictures to share with the forum when completed.

He showed me some of the new stuff and was blown away at the new Gedore products he can get his hands on. Sadly it means that the same obsessed relationship I have with the NWS products will continue with the Gedore offerings. CURSE YOU ASH!

Once again the service was impeccable and can't stress enough how satisfying it is to know there is a reliable place to go for high end products. And after seeing his refined collection of personal tools, leaves me with know doubt he knows what high end is.

Unfortunately after our meeting yesterday, my money got a hold of a turbo torch and is setting aflame my wallet pocket. It is possible to genuinely like and hate a person at the same time. Thank you Ash... I think:lol_hitti

I received my first order of NWS pliers from German Hand Tools today. The pliers are excellent, the follow up customer service (confirmation of delivery e-mail) was awesome and shipping was faster than expected. I'll definately order from them again.

First time poster. So far, very impressed with G-H-T. Placed an oreder on Thursday the 13th and the tools are being delivered today, Monday the 17th all the way across the country.
I'm really hoping that the NWS tools live up to my expections!

Ash is a great seller with super quick shipping. I really like that every tool is looked over before shipping out to me. This avoids me getting defective tools.

Great to deal with and don't hesitate to buy from.

thanks.

I am going to have to pace myself, I will probably call and order the bottom three for now. On the metal handle ratchet, does that take 1" bits. it looks like a 1/4 female ratchet if I understand it.right.

Yes it is a 1/4" female ratchet I put some actual pictures of the items to show you more details. I will try my best to put these items all on the website in the next few days. There is also 3 pictures of some Felo voltage testers that I have in stock as well.
