ash: your website seems to be showing prices for me, I thought I was supposed to get everything for free?? If you could correct this so I could order some of everything, I'd be grateful.
Im not "pulling" anything,I went to the site a year ago and found it lacking...was told give it some time,it's been a year.Sight looks nearly the same.Only a couplr of brands have a few items listed,the others you have to d/l ponderous .pdf files(bgs one is corrupt and wont open on 2 computers),and scan pictureless .xml spreadsheets.Then d/l another .pdf file to get a price (Really??)Ive been buying from samstagsales.com as they have a website thats not like "clocking in" to look for some tools.Personally I couldnt care less how many have ordered from there,im not going to jump through a bunch of hoops to give someone my money.Take this as constructive criticism.
I can understand only listing things you stock,and that you cant stock everything..you arent amazon..I get that.But man the .pdf thing is a bad way to simulate a large stock.It could be set up better all im saying.
And no im not chad from chads toolbox,its a common enough name..

I hardly rely on Chads, Samstagsales, Amazon, or any of these other online vendors to do my shopping and that includes ASH. My research is done through forums like these (GJ) and other tool aficionados and reviews. I read, I you tube, I scour 1000's of images, pound Ebay and craigslist and Google translate a dozen different languages and prices. When it finally comes time to purchase, I do not hesitate to hunt down the best price for that item/items and Ash is one of the first places I go when getting a price quote. Most of the time (unless there is some stupid crazy sale or he is not the distributor of said item) he is in the ballpark or better.
However, it is not his prices that set him apart from the other vendors. It is his service! I never have to worry that he is not doing his very best for my satisfaction. Which means, if he is in the ballpark, he will often times get the nod. And from what I have read about some of the other vendors, great service is not often the norm. For a guy with a staff of one (himself) and his side business is tools, he still manages to be an effective conduit for high end tools. Look at Klein tools and chads toolbox to see his NWS influence.
Most of us, including myself, would never have heard of NWS, Felo, Rennsteig and recently BMI among other offerings, (let alone having the chance to buy them) if he didn't take a personal interest in quality and then, make that quality available to us.
If you have a good relationship with Samstagsale and he gives you the quality, care and service you desire from a vendor, then your're fortunate that you don't have to go far to satisfy your buying needs. But if you don't call or write to get a price quote from Ash for an item your thinking about purchasing, then your being short sighted. After all, the bottom line for most of us is a fair price (or big, or huge, or friggin mega giant sale!!!!) with excellent service, and a vendor that stands fully behind his/her product.

I've completed one order with Chadstoolbox without issue. Waiting on my 2nd order which is on hold with Felo precision screwdriver set not in stock. I hope I do not get to 'experience' this terrible customer service. So far, all good. I've left feedback post ordering that they need to improve website. Hi, Our cart system only calculates shipping for the USA and the reason for that is international shipping has too many variables and I want to get the best price for the customer so a quick email will end up getting you the best shipping costs and usually tax free. Also 99% of the time our add to cart items are in stock and ready for shipping. Thanks

I agree with your post 100%. I have done business with Ash and can honestly say his customer service is the best I've had on the web.
All my emails were answered within a couple of hours(and there were lots) and when I did purchase all my product came in sparkling condition.
100% reccomended.

Another perfectly successful order from GHT arrived today. Ordered Tuesday, arrived Thursday. I purchased some Knipex Lineman pliers (09-12-240). These things are gorgeous! My older lineman pliers are one of my few Klein tools that I still trusted and liked pretty well, but they've become very rusty and tight. At a glance, the Knipex ones seem neither particularly better nor worse, but I'll see how they hold up in the field.

This is a matter of opinion,its quite ridiculous to base a shopping experience on things like "my items arrived sparkling new" or "they answered my emails within hours"(shouldnt have to email at all).These things are not above and beyond the call of duty for any vendor.Now price ya that makes sense,but again unless its a huge difference ~%20 or more,the only thing left is the shopping experience itself.And honestly its just not very good at this website,to save $3?...if most of you guys would stop stroking this guy long enough to say.."ya it would be cool if you improved the website a bit" he might actually move into the 2000's and make some improvments.Unless of course he just wants to sell tools to 12 "fully satisfied" gj forum members and not the masses.If thats the case well then I guess his site is perfectly fine.

Why don't you stop wasting bandwidth with YOUR idiotic opinions. You don't like the website - fine. You don't appear to actually buy or use tools so it doesn't matter anyway. All I hear is criticism, but no actual recommendations on how to improve the site. I guess it's a lot easier to sit back and complain rather than actually do something yourself. I've personally heard enough of your ****, so it is time to add to the ignore list.
I just wanted to chime in and say Ash's website is pretty easy to use. At least his prices are right, when looking at a NWS Tool website and found some diagonal cutters for $7.00, and they had a minimum order of like $25. So I had to order a few to get it shipped, and then got an apology email about it. Lets just say that website seemed phishy, unlike Ash's.
Also a same day personal response is always appreciated, plus he caters to the forum members that is nice. A lot better than some companies responses to something a customer doesn't like.

Again just a matter of opinion...im entitled to my opinion just like anyone else and yes I use and buy plenty of tools...but somehow you know that I don't.
As far as suggestions,ive given plenty already just no one wants to see them.I'm merely giving my view of the shopping experience compared to many of the other tool sites I visit.The fact you cant handle that is hardly my problem.

I agree that Ash's site isn't the best, but he offers good service,price, and response for people who have questions.
His site is kind of similar to a hole in the wall restaurants.
Make look ugly on the outside but the food is great.
I believe that will be much more constructive to list a few sites where you think the website is good.

You have made it abundantly clear of your mental obsessions and control issues. Your insecurities are plain to see, but there is no couch here for what ails you.
You have now gone from constructive to "Bullying" and frankly this approach is exhausting and repetitive. You're a control freak out of control. Be content with your message and let the constructive side take root and grow. Or not.
Though, this is only one persons opinion of your post presentation skills, your defective personality files, along with your lack of common sense extensions, combined with your viral toned spread sheets, presents us with this question. Are you trojan, malware or just plain spam? What efforts will you make to improving your personality presentation? What effective system of communication could you employ that would make you relevant and valued?

My first order from German Hand Tools (Ash) came in yesterday and I couldn't be more pleased. I spoke to Ash on the phone and he took the time to answer all of my questions and even gave me his personal opinions on some items. In the end I ordered 7 NWS pliers/cutters. My order arrived within 2 days of placing the order and the items were packaged very professionally. I can't say enough about the quality of these NWS pliers/cutters. I will definitely be placing an order with GHT again very soon. Thanks Ash!

Another "Best Seller Ever" vote for Ash! Last week I placed my fourth order with Ash, and an hour later I get the tracking number. Box arrives in perfect shape, tools individually wrapped inside. Every order has been the same - perfect in every way - literally could not ask for more. Thank you Ash!
Speaking of NWS, the compound wire cutters (138-49-200) are unlike anything I've seen before. A three piece construction gives them compound leverage, and the cutters are rated for 3mm (1/8") hard piano wire. Build quality is excellent. It isn't easy to appreciate the construction from the picture. I've given two of these as thank-you's and they have been very well received.

Like many of the folks here, I'd like to give a shout out to Ash of German Hand Tools. I ordered a few NWS pliers and a Knipex plier which all arrived in perfect shape and in a timely manner. Ordered some Felo screwdrivers from Ash after I wore the tips off some cheapo phillips head screwdrivers I got from Costco. The tips are literally round or twisted! Got them in two days even though I am on the East Coast.
The quick service convinced me to order some NWS pliers from him as well after I was underwhelmed by some Channellocks I purchased. I just finished replacing every light switch and electrical outlet in my house with a pair of crafstman's that I wore out the wire cutters on. Looking forward to the next time something breaks to try out the NWS pliers!

I was very tempted to keep them. I really liked the feel and especially the look.

The Wihas have the metal caps on them which are connected to the screwdriver shaft through the handle; they feel very stout and solid in your hand.

There has been a lot of talk about ratcheting screwdrivers in other threads. I was wondering what all of the German Hand Tools fans think over here. If I were thinking about something a little less expensive than a Snap-on, such as a Williams, would I be better off with a Wera, or are there other German models to consider?
Wiha or Felo would be a couple of other German makes to look at.
Felo comes in $23 - $30 depending on the bits (Chad'sToolbox), while the Wiha (Topra) is ~$37 just for the handle (here). Add bits (i.e. 10pc kit), and you're looking at $54.
Topra is gearless, and has a unique shaped handle though, which you may or may not like.

The PB swiss looks good and gets great reviews, but it is a bit on the spendy side. The Wera is made in the Czech Republic IIRC. That Witte one is ~40-$50 I think.
For the money the willams is hard to beat. Especially if you are in the states.
Sounds like the same thing I bought. Mines got the bolsters shafts.
I've been in contact with Ash for a while about purchasing some screwdrivers and pliers. He's very helpful, gets back to you quickly and is accommodating. I highly recommend him.
On a side note, I took at look at chadstoolbox and while I could have saved a few bucks there (they had a small promo for NWS pliers) I much prefer giving my business to Ash. From all the reviews I've read chadstoolbox's customer service is abysmal and I see no reason to support them. Ash on the other hand has amazing customer service.
