I checked through, but didn't find much...

We see lots of tool pr0n for many US brands, but hardly for Hazet, Stahlwille, Gedore, and others. I'm starting my German tool collection and thumbing through the Hazet .pdf files, but those pictures surely don't do the stuff justice. The same applies to the Gedore and Stahlwille catalogs.

So how about some user pictures to add to the site's database?

Do all German made tools say "Germany" or are are there actually truly German made tools labeled "Deutschland"?

Is it a general international practice for manufacturers to stamp manufacturing origins in English?

I've got a bunch, mainly old spanners, never seen Deutschland on a one.
Some did have "W. Germany" before reunification.

On tools you`ll find usually "Germany" or "Made in Germany" ,never saw "Deutschland" on a tool. It was introduced in 1887 so they just kept the "Made in Germany" as a sign of quality. Other items sometimes say "Hergestellt in Deutschland" , some packagings of tools have this sign:

"German tools"

Are Hazet tools availible just down the street at a auto parts/tool/hardware store in a typical German city/town or do you have to go to special tool stores to find them?

Why is that hard to believe? All that's available, barring the odd Wiha screwdriver collection and some Knipex are cheap chinese tools. We've discussed the specialist shops, and the nearby one I visited when it was closed really is not that nearby.

Conrad sells better tools, but not in-store.

Nope, and I've been to a couple auto shops and they had no idea what I was talking about. They looked like they were using Proxxon or some other cheap chinese/taiwanese brand.

Wow, never really been a fan of double box wrenches, but these are really nice:

haz_ring_nw3.jpg

The Stahlwille wrenches *appear* to not be as long as Hazet, but still look nice and have a good rep.

I also was searching through tool sets to get myself, and noted that Stahlwille appears to push 12pt sockets, while Hazet and Gedore both push 6 (though I think one of the sets I was interested in Gedore had 12).

The side by side of Hazet ratchets also reminds me of the QR option. The sets don't include them, so I'd have to order some qr rebuild kids along with them. I no longer have QR's in my collection, other than my 1/2" Zyklop, and I would definitely like to have it again. It's a good thing to have when working underneath a car in the street.

@all

Made in Germany was a warning for other people to stop buying nazi stuff.

This wrench has no flankdrive (all other hazet wrenches and sockets has it).

No, you don't get professional tools so easy here...and if you find a shop...then you must often pay 20% more than usually.

We don't have Sears or Napa.

@Merkava_4
He wouldn't know... he's gotta stay out'a site of the nazi marches
STFU! It's a serious issue here!!!!!!!!!

I had to Google "STFU" because I wasn't familiar with that abbreviation.

Nazi marches wouldn't last very long out here in California; the state is about 80% Hispanic, with the remaining ethnic groups being Asian, Indian, African American, and a few of us "good ol' boys." :D

What is with all the "Nazi" references???? Is this about tools or politics????

I'm trying to get jerk_chicken to be my inside man in Germany by visiting industrial stores that stock high end German tools - but the Nazis are preventing him from moving about freely - so in a strange twisted way, racist extremism and tools are being combined in this thread.

Just delete the last few posts and the world will reset. Combo of the seriousness of these issues with getting off on the wrong foot and not connecting to another post as it was intended. That's all.

I can delete my posts, but I don't want eschoendorff's question hanging out there without an answer. :shocking:

If all the responsible parties (Hawk included) will delete their posts, then I can delete mine.

Yeah, I was thinking that, but it's one of those places where I'd probably feel weird unless I was going in there to buy. It's not really one of those places one walks off the street to browse and then walk away. I was thinking about contacting them to see if they'll offer the forum a discount, but it doesn't look to be like there's a demand and there are a couple other places that sell for less.

If weight’s has any bearing,, How about my Deckel KF3S Three-Dimensional Duplicating Machine? It was made in Germany and weighs 6,500 pounds.

A 17mm 1/2 drive Gedore socket I found recently at a pawn shop (made in Germany):

In this pic there's the Gedore socket (lower left hand corner) and the orange + black Matco branded Witte Screwdriver, made in Germany:

I have a bunch of OEM BMW trunk toolkit tools, mostly Hazet- I'll dig them out and take some pics.

BTW- has anyone else noticed that many of the Gedore tools seem to be made in India? I've seen a bunch of them lately at flea markets and pawn shops, but none of them seem to be very good looking to me so I haven't bought any.

Gedore is 100% made in Germany. Other tools are Gedore too....but not the same high end quality like genuine gedore tools.

No they aren't. It's made by Gedore...but Gedore was first ans is a german company with a long tradition.
It's the same question like "Is Kobalt realy Snap-On" .
If you have a german made gedore tool in you hand and in the other one the made in "somewhere else" gedore tool...you will see and feel the difference.

yeah Hawk, I'm confused about this as well.

How can you say "Gedore is 100% made in Germany" when many of the Gedore tools I see are clearly stamped "Made in India"??

Or do you mean that you don't consider anything a real Gedore unless it's made in Germany????

Based on what I've seen in person, I will agree with you that the German-made Gedores are generally of better quality than the India-made Gedores.

Thx, Rig

Sockets, Pliers and Wrenches (also ratchtes) are made in germany...high end products...will survive the WW3!....
Gedore India or where ever made tools too....but not with the same quality. Try a german or austrian Gedore plier....could happen, that you throw all Knipex pliers away!
Will post some pics later.

The only Gedore tools I have ever found in my tool travels have been the cheap ****, never seen a quality one yet, and I am shocked right down to my heels to find out there are quality Gedore tools out there!
