Adam Booth / Abom79 posted a video today of his Gerstner machinist's chest getting restored at the Gerstner factory. It's pretty cool.

A pretty nice video. They never said what the total factory restoration cost was. The nickel plating of the lock and latches, if I recall correctly, would have cost an additional $300. I am glad the box owner declined. Those shiny parts would have been out of place on that wonderful old box.

A beautiful job on a beautiful old chest. It reminded me of my grandad's old Gerstner. He was a machinist at the old United Illuminating Co. in Bridgeport, CT. and I used to see his chest up on his basement workbench at home when he retired. I remember even as a child marveling at the beauty of it. Wish I knew whatever happened to it. Anyway, thanks for the memory.
