Well just kept folding/squashing/looping etc. cord (all within acceptable limits) until I finally got the thing to fit. Don't know what someone would do with a 6' cord!

A bit disappointed in GE engineers, should be an easy problem to anticipate and accomodate.

Generally you need the cord length when installing the fridge in an enclosure as well as for cleaning; you need the cord length to be able to plugin the fridge while it is pulled away from the wall..

Run to harbor freight, pick up an electric planer, put planer back on shelf and run back home to get the 25% off coupon you forgot, run back to harbor freight and buy the planer, run back home and plane the 7/8" off. Forgot your free tape measure! Run back to harbor freight and get tape measure. Fridge will slide right on in. Reassemble door and use spray foam to fill in 7/8" gap. Easy peasy.

Off topic, but you don't have to Run home if you forget the coupon.. Just show it to the cashier on your phone.. I actually don't even bother printing them anymore..
