For those of us in the more northerly climes, and without heat in the garage or shop, our tools have been rusting away without us for some time.

Today is supposed to be 57 here today, so I finally went down and opened up the garage/shop.

Could still see my breath, but turned on the grinder and wire wheeled some rust off a couple of things.

It is SO good to think about getting down there any time I want!

Next step is some spring cleanup and organization. Here's the mess.

So if the weather has broken for you, or even if you have heat or live in warmer places, get out there and enjoy your shop or garage!

Looks like my stove except mine is cracking up and Pacific Energy not making any effort to fix it! The box is guaranteed for life,,My garage never goes below 40F. Wife kept a fire on when I was in hospital for a week. Priorities eh!

I have no idea how you guys can handle garages like that. My neat freak side is busy sitting here twitching, and I'm just looking at pictures, let alone if I was actually there.

Bill, very nice day here in Iowa too. I didn't get a chance to fiddle in my garage though.

My work area gets looking like that too, but at least you make sure the Fire Extinguisher is where you can grab it quickly.

I'm planning on getting some time in the shop tomorrow.

It's a terrible thing it cost about $50 a month to keep the shop at 60° all the time. 70° if I feel a little chilly. Too cheap to get cable so I go to shop for entertainment.

Yea, changed the oil in the drive. 45 deg. No sun, so I had the insulated coveralls on. At least I got done before it started raining again.

It was 90 here the end of last week..... don't get pissed at me! You asked for a report!

My 10 y/o has outgrown his Felt 24" wheel road bike so I got out and worked over the 650c wheel bike that I built for my oldest boy about 12 years ago. This thing is pretty sweet....Quintana Roo frame I got on closeout from one of the distributors, aluminum frame and fork. Used a bunch of DuraAce components (9sp) I had lying around, and built some Velocity Deep V rims on DA hubs. We took him out for a 30 miler on Saturday, and he really liked this thing.

Yea, he knows "knees in".....he was goofing off because he saw me taking the pic!

For those interested, the Felt is a nice alum frame, carbon fork bike, with 8 sp group and some entry level wheels. The larger Quintana Roo framed bike actually weighs almost 3 lbs less than the Felt....needless to say, he noticed!

I went out in the shop a little bit today. Didn't do much. Just deposited a few new tools and straightened up a bit. It's actually not too messy right now because I had to clean it up to work on a few vehicles a while back.

I'd be interested to see more of your shop stools though!

Looks like some pipe, old rims and homemade cushions. Care to show some more pics and give details on their construction?

Nothing more than rims and an upholstered pad on a round piece of plywood that sits in the top rim.

I didn't make.

35 degrees Celcius here today. Wish I'd been in the shop. Instead I was out in the middle of a field, in full sun, with a basic tool kit, doing a full drain and filter change on the fuel system of a 75hp Kubota that got a gut full of contaminated fuel.

I cant get near the shed here!.... its been over 35C for 21 days straight, ducked in today to get a drill and screwdriver...the digital readout on the workbench was 39.9C at 3pm.
cant wait to get in there and create a neatness!
oh well, 3 months from now I expect I'll be freezing my a$$ off.

YES! Was able to be out in the shop all evening. My daughter organized quarters and dimes, my son (6 months) stayed in the stroller and I organized my tool box and the peg board.

Pounded some drinks last night with the garage door open and the heat on. By the time I got off work it was 55 F outside. That's a good temp for me but the wife gets cold so if I want her company I need to turn the heat on. Yes, I enjoy her company.

Organization is an individual preference, the guy who derives the most enjoyment and gratification from his space wins. We tend to get caught up in the minutia and forget about the bigger picture sometimes.

It is time for a bit of a bulldozer clean...and I have all the stuff to take my lights to the next level...and I finally got the planning done for my pegboard/bench project.

Big rain today means I can burn tomorrow too!

Ahh wood stove heat!

I keep my shop between 50-70F all winter.... if my shop froze, itd cost thousands!

I get out to my shop everyday.
We have a car care product business that is run out of the garage.
So we need to keep it heated during the frozen months, usually around 55F.
I am always tinkering with something out there!
Just cleaned up the open bay...ready to set up a card game.

I had to work today, and take the Mrs for dinner on her birthday. Upon return, I wandered down and put the new brake pedal pad on the Excursion. Only took a minute...but was good for me to have just a few minutes in the garage.

Over the summer, I often choose a day in the garage over going to a car show, etc.

I am starting a 3 day mini vacation today and heading out to mine right now for some quality R&R. Weather is perfect as is it in the mid 60s today and upper 50s the rest of the week

It's about time it started warming up for more than a day. I've got a lot of spring cleaning to do out there so I can get some new projects rolling.

Those that posted that my garage/shop needed work, were entirely right. And it needs a lot more than just a little.

Today, I had planned on working in the kitchen and dining room, but the garage beckoned to me like streetwalker on a slow night.

So I emptied the bench and 2 SO cabinets that have been sitting on it.

Then I got out the Hilti and Tapcons and mounted them on the wall. Then mounted 2 plug strips. Stocked the cabinets and put stuff back on the bench.

I have that same compressor!! Mine isn't as clean & has small rust pin holes in the bottom. Have another tank to swap motor onto. Love that compressor!! Nice & quiet.. not like all these new loud & noisy junk they sell now.
