Sears is closing its doors in the largest Hawaii mall. 9 other stores on the mainland will be closing as well.

So it begins...

Sears is not closing it's doors. The Craftsman brand is sold at sears but not part of the Sears store holdings.

It cost so much more to ship to Hawaii and to service what it sells They might be better for them to sell the store. Many of the stores are are held by private owners. Mall rents are through the roof and cost far too much and in this recession there are many areas it does not pay out to keep the store open.

Sears closed most of its outlet stores here in California 20 years ago.
They can put the damaged, seconds or returns on the floor in the store and not need to ship them to an outlet store. That alone will save millions on shipping and storage.

There are a host of reasons to close locations and sell off stores. A store needs to cover cost plus. It could cost more to service a store due to location and shipping. There are many reasons to close. In this this recession there are many hard hit areas of the country that keep a store open will not pay. They are getting smart and cutting out the overhead that makes no profit for the company.

The problems with Sears is that they run too many sales and pricing games. They need to just lower the prices and give a good price every day. They are now selling many brand tools on line. They even sell Stanley and Proto, Williams and more. They are asking full list price. Youc an get every thing for a huge discount if you look on line. It makes no sense to me.
The Sears web site for tools really *****. It is like they tossed it all up in the air and let it scatter across the web pages. I can never find what I want and I know they have it. It is just bad business.

Our local K-mart is always empty. Goe one mile down the street and you can't find a place to park at Wallmart. I hate both stores. They do not carry anything of quality I want. Or local KM had a huge section of Craftsan tools when the companies merged. Now they have almost nothing. Our Sears store is 4 miles away and it is always dead these days. You can never get anyone to help you that know what they are doing.

If you want it just sit in your easy chair and order it form home like I do.
