So as of late i have been considering getting a new us general 26 x 22 top and bottom. I like the new blue color and really wanna get ride of my series 1 44. I also plan to add a sunex 6 drawer cart and a 5 drawer cart from hf as well. Im an automotive tech and feel personally this is the best option for my personal needs. The 26 i want to store all my secondary tools and some specialty. 1 cart i want all my main everyday tools to use in between my 2 bays. The 2nd cart i want to hold electric and diagnostic tools. As i have got more experienced i realize that a bigger box is not always the best option in some cases. Now all that being said anyone else plan on getting a us general 26?

The 26s are really nice for the price. Especially the series 2. But the old 44 was an insanly good deal with the coupon. Especially back when you could use the 20% coupon on it, or if you could get someone to do an override.

I would like to get a 26 for home use.

I'd like a 26" bottom. I have a space in my garage that would be a perfect fit.

Most mechanics tend to start out with a cart or roll cab and then buy a big box to store tools they don't use much after they've outgrown their cart. For a roll cab, I would just buy the bottom, roll it around, and buy a big box and add a top box to that big box or a cabinet if you run out of room. As for HF boxes, for the money they seem to be decent. My co-worker seems to be happy with his series 1 5 drawer cart. If I was impatient and didn't wait for the Snap on roll cab I have to show up on craigslist, I might have gotten a HF cart instead.

I find carts useless as no counter top dump tools in use and small parts .
I would find the 26" cabinet more useful in role as a cart with rubber counter top than main box .
With one top drawer open and top space most things right at hand and you not in and out of tiny drawers every 10 minutes or placing tools on lift arms or car as you got counter top space on hand .

This is how I worked in industrial maintenance and machining with an 27” wide cart with a piece of conveyor belt on top. It worked well to hold things like speed reduction gear boxes and such for repairs, and was small enough to get it in between machines. I also had a 3-1/2 vise on the corner to hold things. I use it in my home shop now for my machining tools cabinet.

If you bought your series 1 long enough in the past, tool cabinets were not on the exemption list. You could combine a sale item, but not a super coupon item, with a 20% off coupon. That is how I bought my textured finish 44".

Yeh I recently got a 36" masterforce as work trolley/countertop as my 2 tier trolley seen better days, rubber stall matt cut for tops, use a 30" for diagnostic gear and jumper gear, countertop ideal for notebook etc and can be wheeled right next car working on in any spot in workshop or the yard .
