I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a HF 44", but concerned that I won't be able to get it home from the B&M. I really don't wanna pay 100 for shipping.

I have access to a compact Nissan pickup. Would I be able to get it to fit on one of these? I assume they would fork lift it on. Once it's on there, How would I get it off the truck? Would I need ramps?

They will load it and it will fit easily... I have a hydraulic lift table that I used to unload it by myself easily... Could probably use a couple 2x4's to slide it to the ground. Others have used a engine hoist etc.

It will fit in the back of the truck, but you might have to put the tailgate down. My buddy and I hand loaded and unloaded my (2) boxes by picking them up and placing them into the back of my F350. In all fairness, my buddy is a meathead and I'm fairly strong (29yrs old), but a couple of bigger guys shouldn't have a problem. I forget what they weigh, but it's not out of line for 2 guys. The lift down is harder, but my tailgate is also 36" off the ground.

It will easily fit in that little Nissan. There are members that have hauled it in the back of SUVs.

As far as unloading, do you have a neighbor that can help? Two people can easily load/unload the box. They loaded it into my truck with a forklift, I slid it to the front of the bed on my own. Once I got it home I initially planned to just unload it with my tractor, but happened to have a friend come by so we just unloaded it by hand, no problem at all for two normal sized people (I'm about 210lbs, the other guy was maybe 150lbs). If you are doing it by yourself it shouldn't be too hard to slide down some ramps, just be sure to secure them very well so they don't slide off. Actually, as small and low to the ground as the little Nissans are (if 2wd) I would say you could just slide it right off the tailgate onto the ground, tilt it over one one end, roll the truck forward, then tilt it back down.

Or if you're riding solo. Uncrate at the store to check for damage. When you get it home, remove all the drawer via two plastic tabs on the side. One goes up and one goes down. Then remove the shell by yourself. Easy peezy lemon squeezy.

It'll fit, I got my 56" home in a Buick Rendezvous, it was tight but it fit no problem. You'll be just fine, it's not nearly as big as the 56..

I was able to unload my top and bottom box from the bed of my truck by myself. Slowly push it over the edge of the tailgate and let it slide down slowly to the ground. Then just stand it up. You just need to be big enough to slowly slide it off the tailgate and not let it come crashing down. I am 6'6" so that helped.

Where do you live if that wasn't already said? Maybe someone from here that is close with a truck can grab it.

Brought mine home in the back of a 2007 Ford Expedition, and didn't even need to fold down the rear seats...even unloaded it by myself once I got to the shop.

unloaded mine solo as well, laid some cardboard out and was able to let 1 end down gently then stand it up. Attach casters, then set it on it's feet.

Heavy, but not unmanageable.

It was in the back of a stepside S-10, not a big bed at all. It barely fit, but it DID fit.

I loaded the 44" top and bottom in a 2002 Trailblazer, with the shipping crates/cardboard left on. Had no problem loading or unloading by myself. A Nissan truck might have a little bit higher bed, but not by much.

If you remove the drawers, you should easily be able to slide it down. Use the cardboard to avoid scratching of course.

LOL. Thanks for all the advice.

Flounder_Pounder, your bed must have been quite cramped with your wife and your toolbox. :)

That's exactly what I did. Closest HF is 400 miles away, so I ordered online. Backed my F350 up to the back of the delivery truck, slid it into my pickup, then unloaded it by myself like quoted above.

I put it in the back of my Volvo station wagon. Same car also held a 56"x24" box! You'd be surprised what will fit in most cars.

When I worked at HF we "fit" one in the trunk of a ford taurus. We put on corner in the trunk and a ratchet strap from wheel well to wheel well around the box. The guy REALLY wanted to get it home.

That could have been a WTF front page picture for the GJ !!! Hope the owner got home safe and sound or avoided any moving violations. HF 44 weighs enough to bend some wheel wells

Reminds me of the gentleman that drove over 1000mi to come pick up a 71 Chevy truck cab from me. I was surprised when he pulled in with a Volvo station wagon pulling what looked to be a converted jetski trailer.

It's a shame the Taurus is FWD, I'm imagining the wheelies he could have pulled on the ride home.

I had a guy come pick up an old king size mattress and box springs -- put it on top of his honda accord :3gears: couldn't get the doors open with it on top so he had to climb through the window.

Orly?

When I was in college, I sold a set of 285/50R20 tires, stock tires off a Silverado SS. A guy came and picked them up in a brand new Hyundai Tiburon, (so new it still had the little airbag warning pull tabs on the dash and dealer mats) with light tan interior, his wife's car. He threw one in the front seat, one in the back (his poor friend had to ride with it), and one in the hatch with the hatch popped slightly open. He put the fourth on the roof. I provided some twine for him to tie it off, but I was sure to let him do it (your load, you're responsible). He didn't make it out of the lot before it slid off the roof and was hanging on the drivers side. He stopped, readjusted and added some more twine. The guy had a 2 hour ride home. I sure hope he made it home alright, though I'm sure he was busy cleaning the black off his tan interior once he got home as his wife was chewing him out.

If you access to a small utility trailer like the 4x8 HF trailers, it is much easier to load and unload that way. That's how I brought home my 72" box from Rural King.

Be sure to bring some ratcheting tie downs with you. Or just pick some up at HF when you are there.
