Im getting tired of ppl bitching/ joking about my garage. Since I rented my first house with a 1 car garage, I did aolt of work in garage painting, cleaning, organizing, and changing it to fit my hobbies and needs. I bought first home in 6/2006 and since then I did same thing as first place but the main difference is it mine. My garage is my hobby. I don't go out to the bars and strip clubs. I work my *** off, bring home my money and enjoy my garage in my free time and why cant people just leave it alone. Yes I always out there working, fixing, planning new projects, and whatever. Its one of the nicest, most organized garage on the block ( im not blowing my horn either)but still people give me a hard time about it. Getting frustraited......

After seeing your garage, I don't think I could take seriously the opinion of people who ***** or joke about your workspace.

My dad was remodeling our house years ago. Every couple of weeks, my unce would stop by and nit pick my dad's work. One day my dad looked at his square in the eye and told him that if all he had to say was something negative, then he should not stop by any more and pointed to the door. He came back a few weeks later but had nothing negative to say.

It is your house and your garage. You decide who gets to come in and who does not. The garage is for your enjoyment and not theirs.

Like Ducksface said. You gotta make garage criteria. If they dont meet criteria then they can get close enough to ***** and if theres nobody around then you dont have to share your beer..... but still bang the neighbors wife.

Why do you care about the opinions of those that can't relate with your passion?
In fact, they wouldn't be allowed to even come close to my garage if they did that to me.

I guess just tired of my neighbors, friends, and family complaining. The garage and the projects I do is my passion and don't know why is so hard for them to understand. They don't understand finding a cool old tool box or vise and restoring its my relaxation.

Well now is the time get comfortable with yourself and what you enjoy.

Cause --- if some day if you manage to get older and have 4 garages and a barn, they still won't understand...

Just sayin...

I don't know how old you are, but I quit worrying about what other people say decades ago. Makes life oh so much more pleasant.

The only person I try to please now is me (and my wife, of course) the rest of the world can go **** in their hats and pull it down over their ears for all I care.

They're jealous.

Haters gotta hate.

"Let it all go" in the front yard for a few weeks and ask them which they prefer.

I don't have a lot of ppl around which have the same hobbies as I except old timer next store.... He great old man and tinkers himself.

Now that you've explained it outloud;
It may be that they see it as reclusive and anti-social and consuming.

they may be right.

All things in moderation.

They might and I think at least wife understand but after 8 yrs of consist change shes even ready for it all to be over at least the changes. I just have to say " Hey hun I got idea and shell say OH NO WHAT NOW". I do admit I spent so many weekends over the years with garage clean sat morning all to be torn part by the afternoon only to be cleaned up by sun night only to say " what you do". Funny part is that after 8 years I ready am almost DONE..... never thought I would say that but I really am. Now it seems Im getting the most hassle and hell I havnt spent much time at all out there or done cause it too ******* hot. I got a DP cart/ combo to make from scratch, small service cart idea, extend a shelf, and finish yard wagon.

That could be one of the nicest garages in the state, let alone block/city.
Don't blow off your friends and family though, unless it's something that's going to make you some serious $$.. then you can buy new friends, and buy the love of your family!

Sounds like all you really need to do is find a better set of friends to hang with. This whole forum is for guys just like you. Guys that would totally dig your garage. You've made yourself a great space. Enjoy it! Love your HF box bench!

for a lot of people,
a garage is someplace to (maybe) park a car, to fill with junk, xmas decorations, trash cans, recycling bins, and kids toys.

they just dont understand :dunno:

Who cares what they say. My family often questions why I have so many tools and my garage is how it is. I don't pay attention to them. But it sure is funny when they need something fixed or need to borrow something all of a sudden I'm their best friend and my garage is good then. My mom used to wonder why I needed all the tools I had, she doesn't question anything anymore because she never has to take her car in to get fixed and never has to have someone come fix something at her house.

Enjoy your garage and who the hell cares what others think of it. Everyone has their hobbies. Crack open a beer in your garage and enjoy the weekend!

It is pretty simple actually, if you can answer in the affirmative that your garage makes you happy, tell the rest to **** themselves.

I share the same ideas and thoughts and lately I really dont give a **** but on same tokken I really hate arguing over it. I always consider my home a place away from work and the ******** of the world. I cut ppl out of my life that used me and family for their benefit or only when needed us. So now after years of remodeling and just hitting close to finishing now I get the most bs from wife, family and close friend. Hell wife few months ago said "Why whats wrong with it its fine why you tearing up and garage and making a huge mess...... next month i did a half of a project to prepare for changes I was planing and she said i cant dont this anymore one more remodel and Im out of here" Well that weekend I decided to do the take the old cold air return out and do all the electrical or redo the bench wall. Cant remember which one i did but shes still here LOL.

Just tell here the same next time she wants new purse, shoes, clothes, or whatever. "the ones you have now are fine, if you get one more I'm out of here!"
