Getting it going

I am just beginning to get my 2 car garage organized and that means I have to stud it up. It is a block garage and all I will do mostly in this garage is park my truck so at this point I will not be drywalling it and finishing it like that; I have another 1 car garage at the rear of my lot for the car work. I have to get this garage studded so I can put up my cabinets and put a lot of stuff away. Here is how it looks now (I just moved in in Jan)

From this thread:http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=143509&highlight=pitterpat , I talked about studding the garage and not putting a top plate but basically adding a 2 x4 piece of wood attaching the stud to rafters. The reason for this is because this garage has a hip roof and the rafters sit on the top plate of the block wall, then they go up at an angle. There are 3 2 x 6's or 8's that run across the garage from one side to the other and that would be the only place to attach a top plate. So I think the idea of the piece of 2 x 4 spanning the studs and the rafters would make the wall much sturdier than attaching a top plate at 2 places. Or I could get some of those hurricane clips.

Once I get the wall up I can get the cabinets on the right side of the picture put up.

OK, got a lot done today. Studded the wall in the 2 car garage and yes, I did use a top plate. I also put in blocking to attach the top plate to the rafters.

I do have some cab's in front of the wall now.

But I also got the cabs drug down to the other gar and got the uppers mounted.

And the lowers are just sitting there.....

But I will have to take the uppers down and move them to the left about 6-7" to be able to have my top tool box open....after I lower the electrical outlet

Not well thought out....the lid of the upper tool box hits the bottom of the right most cab; and the lowers are not directly under the uppers, when I move them down they will look more professional.

Hopefully I can get this done Mon & Tues evening.

Next weekend I'll try to rent a airless sprayer and spray the ceiling in this garage white to bounce down more light.
