Hello
I was told I need to come up with plans for my garage to get going. Does anyone know of anyone in MA they can recommend to have plans done.
Or has anyone used one of the online sites with good results.

What should I expect to to pay?

Thank you
Brian

Do they have to be signed drawings prepared by a professional, or do they just need to be something neatly done by hand? If it's the latter, there are various free drafting packages available, or you can just sit down with a piece of paper and a ruler.

In that case you'll need someone who's registered to practice in Massachusetts (registration for architects and engineers is on a state by state basis), so you may be better off checking locally rather than online.

I am going to go with signed plans.

is this a requirement of the town or what you want to do? If its not required dont pay the extra, especially for a garage...they typically dont require stamps for buildings of that size and complexity.

I just need plans that show things like foundation walls stairs etc..
I used big hammer but I do not see an option for things stairs and the town wants to see things like that.

I just looking for a place to start

Thank you

Looking at the City of Andover website it appears that stamped and signed plans are in fact necessary when applying for a building permit. http://andoverma.gov/building/publish/permcheck.pdf

Maybe you can ask around to local contractors to see if they have any recommendations for someone who can prepare plans. Chances are some of them have someone on staff who can do it as well.
