I am going to start building a garage in a few weeks. I was trying to decide, build it out of split face block w/ brick front, or vinyl sidding w/ brick front. I even thought about going just all vinyl. What does everyone think would be the best way to go? Allso want it to look good. Price is the same either way. I am new to this board and already found helpfull info Thanks.

A lot depends on what else is in the area and what you want to look at. Personally, I think vinyl with a brick front looks like you ran out of money. And I cannot see how these three options are all the same money.

If they are, in fact, the same price I'd go for the split faced block and brick front. I would think the price difference between the 3 options would be vastly different in price. All vinyl would be the least desirable personally for me.

I would use the same material as the house, if it is close to the house.

My house is siding and so I did the garage in siding. Not my first choice either, but I would rather it look like it is suppose to be there as opposed to it sticking out like a sore thumb by using different materials.

... my 1/2 Canadian cent thought ... GRRRRRR canadian money !!!

The contractor is starting the footings tomorrow on my new garage.

I am having the garage sided with cement board that is like lap siding and that is color impregnated and will match the house.

I will post pictures as we progress.

I am with duggie on this. Make it match if it is close to the house.
The only way I can see the cost being the same is if you are doing the labor. But even then masonary almost always comes out higher.
I have 2 sons that are carpenters and one that is a brick layer. So mine has a brick front wall and cedar siding on the other 3 walls.
But that is because that is the way the house is done.
