Hello, I am replacing a old outlet (non-gfci) with a new Leviton smartlock GFCI. I think I have a problem but not sure if wiring is backwards. I have 2 lines coming in and wired the 1st white & black to line connection. Wired 2nd black & white to load connection. The GFCI indicator light does not come on at all...(this is a new switch). The GFCI reset's and test fine, but the fact the light is not on at all tell's me something is wired wrong. One wire is coming from a light switch which I have hooked to the line connection. The other is going to an adjacent room outlet. ?

By "wire" or "lines" you are referring to a section of romex, with a black wire, white wire, and ground wire?
What supplies the switch with power? If all you are trying to do is switch the power to the GFCI on and off, you should have inserted the switch in the black wire, and the white wire should pass thru without being connected to the switch in any way.
You would also need to verify that the white and black wires are correctly connected in the breaker panel.
I think the light will not work if the hot and neutral are crossed anywhere.

Yes I am referring to romex..Also I have not touched any of the light switch wiring to I will remove load wires and try again. The GFCI is replacing a standard 3 prong outlet. II hooked up the wires to the GFCI the way they were wired in the old outlet....Thanks...

Verify that the supply or feed romex is actually hot with the bkr ON
and that the other pair is dead with the bkr ON.
Make sure that the black feed wire is hooked to the gold screw post and the
white feed wire is on the silver screw post of the LINE side.
Make sure that the black load wire is hooked to the gold screw post and the
white load wire is on the silver screw post of the LOAD side.
Make sure that both bare ground wires are connected to the common
GRD screw post.
I believe that the indicator light should illuminate when the receptacle
is in TRIPP. This tells you there is a problem.
