new GFCI at a laundry sink, a 24" LED ballast by-pass converted florescent fixture with a pull chain switch over the sink attached to the load side of the GFCI . worked last week when it was all installed, now it's dead. no power coming from the GFCI , the receptacle works, not the load side. must be defective. anything else it can be?

receptacle works but the load side is dead . first tried another bulb, same results.
then tested for voltage at the fixture ( before & after the switch), nothing . then thought a bad connection at the GFI, there's no voltage at the load terminals .
when the electrician was there and first tried the light after wiring it all up, it didn't come on. twisted the bulb & it came on. it hasn't been used since, until today when I was going to show someone .

I had to replace a GFCI receptacle at my daughter’s house that failed that way. Receptacle worked ok, no power at the load terminals feeding downstream devices.

I've seen that exact scenario quite a few times. I've never researched why or how that happens because I just don't care. Replace the receptacle and all will be well.

Oddly I have a Leviton gfi that the outlet itself does not work, yet all the outlets connected on the load side work and the gfi trips when tested from them.
Low on my priority to swap out.

yes, tried resetting the gfi , no change. bought a new one , all is good.
