I have a 20amp GFI breaker that is very randomly tripping. It runs 4 outlets and seems to trip off when I am not in the shop and everything is turned off. Just a phone, computer and a TV sitting there idle.

Is there a way to check if it is the breaker, or just swap it out with another and see if the problem moves.

The tester just checks that the GCFI is wired correctly and will trip at the correct current. It won't tell why it trips. Nuisance trips are usually
1) GCFI is going bad
2) Moisture at one of the outlets or junction boxes
3) Romex wet (really soaked) somewhere AFTER the GCFI.
4) Device plugged in that draws borderline trip (ground) current.

GFCI outlets go bad all the time. I've had dozens go bad between the time I installed them, and when the inspector shows up to test them.

Start with replacing the unit, and see what happens.
