Ghostshield 4500 white residue

Hi all,

I've applied the Ghostshield 4500 per the flooded directions of Garage Flooring LLC, but wondered if anyone had any pictures of the white residue that occurs if you over apply? I don't have lights in my garage yet so I'm purely going by sunlight, but I can't tell if some of the places are just concrete or it's the white residue. I'd like to make sure before I start scrubbing only to find out I'm fighting my own mind.

GhostShield 4500 should not be applied as a flood coat. It needs to be applied to full saturation. If any puddles or excess develops on the surface, it should be removed via a dry roller, mop, etc. Otherwise, you end up with the white residue you speak of. I think you may be confusing the application with GhostShield 8510.

You need to wash down and scrub the surface with a stiff brush to remove it. It's not fun.

My apologies as I realize I worded that poorly. I was saying I am currently following the directions for the flooded procedure. I mixed the 4500 1:1 with distilled water, applied until the concrete darkened, and broomed out any puddles that formed. I'm trying to figure out if some small spots are from puddles that didn't get brushed out fast enough or if I'm just looking at concrete. Before I apply the flood coat of the 8510 I want to make sure I don't need to do anything beyond sweeping again.

I've seen a lot of pics of before and after someone applied the 4500, but can't seem to find any of the white residue. I went over some areas I thought might have the residue with an EGO power broom but didn't see much difference.

I can't tell you for sure since I don't know what your concrete looked like beforehand The concrete should not look any differently than it did before. The only way to know for sure is to scrub a spot and see it it goes away. The thread I posted below has some pics of a heavy over application.

Long story but I decided to use a densifier/sealer rather than tile the new garage. Basically my timeline got moved up on me. Concrete was poured in January. It was power troweled a bit smoother than I would have liked since I was planning on coating it or using tile. No primer/sealer, etc...

Thanks, Shea. I had seen that thread, but the picture links are broken. Are you able to see the pics? So far I haven't seen any change going over it with the power broom, but as the guy in that thread found out it can take a lot to make a change. I'm pretty sure it looks like what I started with but can't tell if my mind is playing tricks on me. Wish I had taken before/after pics.

I guess my biggest concern is what happens if I put down the 8510 on top of residue? Will it just seal it in, will there be a chemical reaction that could stain the concrete, or will it do nothing and just not seal?

More than likely it's going to impede penetration of the 8510. I would contact the manufacturer to verify.
