Is it made for pipe plugs??? Some of the old high pressure water tube boilers had tons of 2" pipe plugs in 'em. I have some 1" drive sockets for 2" pipe plugs, for example.

good question. This thing is boggling me. Maybe I can modify it into a 1 1/2 inch drive ratchet. I guess it's more of a novelty item. I can use it to decorate my garage wall or something.

Cool Ratchet,

And for $12 a nice piece to have

That thing is used for structural bolting. I believe the socket's drive has projections/ridges that mate up with the projection/ridges within the head. Different sized sockets were available to interchange sizes

A hole should project all the way through the socket and through the ratchet head to allow the iron worker to turn nuts down on any length of bolt. Basically allows for any bolt "stick through"

Hi Folks! I've never posted here before, so here goes.

You can remove the socket from a SUPERECTOR by backing out the two set screws in the hole a few turns. Then put the shift lever in neutral. You should be able to back the socket out the bottom side. As you will see, the ratchet teeth are milled directly on the socket. Below is a 1939 catalog page. I posted detailed photos on Tooltalk this morning.

I can see the link to the photo when the post is in edit mode. After I hit 'save' the URL is not visible on the post. What am I doing wrong?

Imagine having a machinist making a geared 1" drive "adapter" for that thing. You'd then have a very affordable 1" drive ratchet!

Send it to me, I've some sockets that will fit it! ;)
