I designed and built this small sheet metal brake for some small jobs I do periodically. Its made primarily from "I" beams and trailer hitch tubes. It works opposite to most brakes as the bottom jaw floats and the top is fixed.
It fixtures to the top of my welding table. I use a compact hydraulic jack to apply load and two small die springs to return it to home position.
The dies are made form pre-hardened 4140. There are two 1" dowels on the inside which keep the jaws in position.
The whole unit knocks down so I can store it easily as space is at a premium around here. Still needs a few finishing touches. The un-painted parts are going for plating.
