back when I had my shop I had hired a friends girlfriend (she was out of work and needed the money).
I had her doing mostly interrior work and small stuff on restorations and streetrods, as well as some clean up stuff.
she actually worked out fairly well doing that stuff because she had a little more finesse so she was fairly easy on stuff when going together.

We had two that were only good for scrubbing the floor at mechanics rates, but couldn't get rid of them due to the female/union thing. They eventually transferred to non-union areas and were promptly fired, thank god. You had to be REALLY careful what was said/done around them. Me, I just avoided them like the plague.

There's one there now that does a pretty good job, from what I hear. We've had a few short conversations, seems plenty nice.

Yeah, a woman can do it, if they have the desire................that being said, I don't think mechanical and tool using related professions really appeal to most women. For those women that really have a passion for it, all the power to them. I is rare to see a woman mechanic of any type though.
