It printed all good, so I got the easy bit right.

20230114_080352.jpg

I drew the countersunk hole to suit a 10g x 30mm black screw. It came out spot on, almost flush, it sits a tiny bit in which is out of the way so I'm happy.

Fit for purpose +/- .2mm, I'm happy with that.

Also printed an assortment of hooks I downloaded. They all fit perfectly. The list of pegboard accessories to print is quite large. Definitely no shortage.

I added a wall to the boards on each end to tidy them up and blend in with the originals.

Soo after 80ish hours I got them all done. Let them cool down at the end of each print and avoided any curvature, found that out on the first one taking it off hot so let the following ones cool and no curves. Overall I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. Fit perfectly too.

I'm always looking for more things to do to keep me busy and I recently came across 3D labels for tool boxes all over etsy and ebay. Thought hey I'll give that a crack, I'm loving Freecad and youtube at the moment. Downloaded a font I liked and extruded it on a backing plate and saved as a template to just adjust the written content. Slowly figured out how to change the .gcode to stop at a particular level to change filament colour. Nailed it !! I can print a batch of them but just gave 1 a go. Although next time I think I'll go with black and silver.

20230121_154537.jpg20230121_154012.jpg

I only made the backing plate 1mm and the extruded text 1mm, also kept the back plate 22mm to comfortably fit my toolbox drawers. The Spanners one weighed 11 grams so I picked up some 19mm magnetic tape which was more than adequate for the job, cheap too 3 metres for $5.60. I'll now go ahead and label all of my drawers.

I'm slowly getting the hang of very very basic cad stuff. 100% didn't reinvent the wheel here. Copied off a download from printables. Used it as a good training exercise to keep on learning. Turned out pretty good, fit could do with some tweaking but overall worked great.

Wow this is some of the coolest and most well done shop organization I've seen. Your doing an awesome job with the 3D printer!

I was tired of pulling the wrong spanner out of my magnetic organiser so went back to the much more visible hangers. Took a few hours to draw up but got there in the end. I had to print in two parts to suit my print bed available surface area but they merge together pretty closely so all good.

Finished the toolbox labels today.

20230202_185902.jpg

Had to print this one diagonally because the measurement I chose didn't quite fit square, I'm genuinely surprised at the precision of this 3D Printing stuff.

20230202_185844.jpg

The magnetic tape did its job perfectly, these things are so light it's not a hard task to hold them up.

I actually feel like a bit of a goose, I realised after everything was printed that I could have printed the labels a little bit narrower and slid them into the spot SPECIFICALLY for labels on each drawer. Ahh well all good they do the job.

I've got a fair few screwdrivers and they all have their uses. But these two Stanley ones are the go to for my wife. 99% of the time these do the job for whatever she is doing so I printed a little pegboard holder for her to reach quickly.

Had a bit of therapeutic shed time recently, finally got around to fitting some parts I've been collecting. Give the old Bandit a little freshen up.

Tidies up nice for 17yo. Went to a Bike rally last weekend with my Old Man. Was a chill way to spend the weekend good music and plenty of eye candy. The Veterans MC had a great compound. 👍 👌

Decided to upgrade my little 4 litre air compressor with a 40 litre one. Vertical and mobile will be very convenient.

Came across one of these detailer creeper seat, should come in handy when washing bikes and cars 👍

Had a minor bit of reorganisation today, put some kick boards on the floor under my long bench. Shuffled the bike lift a little and put foam tiles all round it, they're good for my tired old feet.

20230330_131429.jpg

I regret not doing something with the floor when we bought house, either epoxy or tiles etc. But the carpet on the left has grown on me and I just decided to tile where the bikes are. Heaps better than the dirty old concrete.

Finally got around to putting a TV in the shed, swings out nice and far to change the angle of it. It's not huge but it's big enough I think. The sound bar is attached to the TV so swings with it. Plenty of sound quality for a smallish space.

Knocked up a set of drawers I'll be putting on castor wheels just for some mobile storage. I suppose you can never have too much storage. In reality I was bored at work, we're shutting in the next few months. Been there 17 years and I'm not sure what the future holds but trying to keep motivated.

I'm a steel worker so they're a bit rough around the edges like my other drawers, I'm no carpenter but they'll do the job 😃.

20230411_173027.jpg

Used some of the ply from work then thought I'd make the false fronts with some better stuff from the local hardware, cut it to keep the full grain look on the front. I think I'll stain it a nice darker jarrah stain that I have laying around. Grabbed some black handles that should look ok too.

20230412_161815.jpg

Gave the carcass a shot of rattle can satin black.

Stained the ply yesterday and the wheels turned up today. Turned out nice, I'm no expert but it rolls nice and all the drawers work. I made it to suit the space under the drop down bench. I find that the bench spends 99% of its time up anyway but it can go down if needed.

My lovely wife had a bit of a spill with our coffees, she caught herself but sadly not the milky goodness. I'd been thinking about using 1m x 1m carpet tiles for a while now, this just gave me a push. Very happy with them, rubber backed and almost seamlessly joined. At least I can replace a tile if need be in the future.

Picked up some downlights, surface sockets and a sensor and put together a basic box to hang above my 3D Printer. I got tired of flicking the lights on and off any time I went to check a print. This just switches on when I walk in and off when I walk out. Does the job nicely. Super super basic but works as intended.

I can only assume they spray painted my garage when the house was built, check out the terrible job missing above the door opener and overspray everywhere. Good job guys 👎

I've set myself up to do a bit of gaming of some old games I played in my youth, it's been fun. I was using my gas lift barstool but sadly I'm a bit fat and it just sinks after a few minutes. So I thought hey make one with a forklift/tractor seat.

I tapered the legs out and used some m24 thread bar for the height adjustment. Then knocked up these adjustable footpegs this morning so I can have feet in or out. It looks a bit funny but man is it comfortable. I might give it a coat of hammer tone charcoal.

We've got a front loungeroom we almost never step foot in so it sometimes gets forgotten about, anyway I've got a few bike magazines I've collected over the years and I've been punishing this poor shelf and bending the shelves for years so I thought make a stronger one. You just can't beat free from work. It's a hefty thing but damn it's strong. Keeps them up out of my little ones fingers too until she's older. Free steel, boards and paint. Cheers 🍻 work. I'm liking hammertone paint at the moment. Looks interesting.

Our trusty 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander died a few weeks back. Was a great car for 11 years, the transmission bit the dust and wasn't worth fixing for the prices quoted. So we picked up a new 2023 Outlander, it's like a spaceship compared to the old one. Don't worry, we do fit in it, we are just giants.

Been a while since an update.

My neighbour asked me to take some pics of his Honda Grom and post it at my work with 30 apprentices. Someone might want it. I grabbed my camera then he said hey grab your helmet and go for a spin. Well played. Now i have a mini bike to play with.

For anyone wondering, I'm 6'3" and 126kgs and it scoots me around no problem.

So the weekend I took ownership of the Grom I took it to my oldies. Told my Dad take this for a spin. He loved it and the very next day found one on marketplace locally. Same model/year/colour that funnily enough came from the same dealership. Mine has 5000kms and his has 3000km. So they hadn't done much.

Anyway, long story short I said hey when you get bored of it ask me before you sell it. He got bored.

So now I have two mini bikes to play with lol.

I also had some spare floor tiles, I knew I over ordered for a reason !!
