I had a coworker give this to me and my Dad wants to put it in his new woodworking shop. I'd love to be able to use it but I don't know much about it. And don't know if I can get replacement belts for it. I love it though. Would be great to see it running again. 4b2c95ad226724fa4a0fae3646c2c1c0.jpg74edbc9e06d68cf5afda50172fc4294b.jpgd316f5d64c9c087a80e21336ae0e8cc6.jpg4e943cca6e9e58bdd9fe6dd0fd5caaaa.jpg

Belts are available, though the one there looks great. What is keeping it from running now besides a cord cap and maybe a switch?

I have a CANEDY OTTO drill press. I make my own belts from leather and link the ends with a CLIPPER LACER. I built a cabinet for my Canedy Otto and built a line-shaft system inside the cabinet.

I have a very similar model.
I took a normal v-belt and turned it inside out and it works fine.

You are correct with both statements. The belt looks so good I wanted to use it as a template for length and width if need be before I started using it. The pin that connects the ends is a little loose and may slide out but overall the entire drill press is in good shape. And everything is well greased which, to me, is a good sign.

Your drill press looks great! I started googling clipper lacer and seems like there are a lot out there. Did you have a specific type or brand you used? I saw some with vice grips and some to use with a bench vise.

That pin should be loose. I use raw-hide pins and the pin gets a little wear from the metal lace and it is highly unlikely the pin will fall out. Ths pin acts like a hinge pin on a door hinge.
You do not need anything too heavy-duty for your C.O. belt. Pick one and go with it. I have two slightly different versions of the model I bought. This one is more interesting to me than many other lacing tools because it has lots of moving parts. At the time you buy a lacing machine, you should consider buying some of the lacing material. There are about 6 different sizes for differing belt thicknesses.
You Tube has video how-to.

Some people use a reversed serpentine belt, I have been told. For me it is most of the hobby fun to get and use the a vintage belt style. If a person does not want to spend money on a lacing machine, hand lacing is acceptable. Back in the day, many belts were trimmed and glued.
