I think you should send it to sweden, i would love to have one of those, and i have never seen anything like it!

So i vote: "Keep it and be happy for the gift from your father, or send it to that strange swedish dude called SoL"

:D

My Dad would not give a rat's **** about me returning it. I'm glad you and your Dad spent some extra time together during the Christmas season talking tools. That's the memory you will have when you grab that ratchet 25 years from now.
I also agree that if you return Evolv stuff and all the rest of us tool junkies did the same when receiving it as a gift, Sears will have sales tracking to see where that stuff slots in and hopefully keep the US stuff around too.

You see... the op's dilemma is one more reason why it is better to give than to receive ;)

I ended up going with the unpopular option. I talked to him and we went to Sears. Spent some time looking at Chinese saw blades, Chinese wrenches, Taiwanese pliers, Indian abrasives and lots of Chinese power tools. Turned it in and placed an order for the 3/8 84 tooth. It was a good time.

While I understand where many of you are coming from, about it being a gift from Dad, I've got lots of stuff to remember him when he's gone and am sure I will collect much more in the coming years. Instead of "that **** ratchet my dad got me" it's become "this awesome ratchet I helped my dad get me". I've turned a gift that bugged me into a memory of wandering around the store with my dad bitching about COO, corporate mergers, and the environmental impact of gigantic transoceanic cargo vessels. :bounce:

Thanks for the input guys.

I am glad it worked out for you. The time you spent with your dad is more important that the ratchet.
