Just completed this a few days ago. not perfect but a good first try. I'm glad to have them off the floor and eating up space... I saw someone else's but can't find the thread now.

Not in an area I can get to. They won't fall off. As the other members noted, the 1x2s keep the bottoms up and prevent the ends from sliding out.

Wow, not really sure what to say to all of this. Guess I should have left them on the ground where they got tripped over and in the way all the time. So the spot I picked was because it was useless space where I won't be too often. I put it as close to my hot water heater as I could, they do not stick out further than the heater. My tool cabinet is on the other side of them. my bicycle hangs from roof between the jack stands. Underneath them (between tool cabinet and hot water heater) I keep my ramps and creeper. I will be careful that I don't get knocked out, break my foot and take my knee out by a rogue jack stand though. I appreciate everyone's concern.

That's pretty much it... used thicker ones to hold.. 1/2 or 3/4 wood, then the 1x2s. Nothing super heavy duty. They aren't that heavy so it's more than up to the challenge. The bike is a Windsor 29er with a few upgraded goodies on it.

what :wtf: you guys got the head knees and toes...What about the Shoulders!
hit one with your head, it falls hits your knees and toes...Then when you finally stand up you hit the second one and repeat, thats when you are hopping around and twist an ankle fall into the water heater with your shoulder...Then sence you have gone this far, your now mad and punch the wall, there go the nuckels hand and wrist... Screw it Im gonna put a "DANGER" sign above them and stay clear!:lol_hitti
seriously, I love it and will have to add that to my 2do-list:beer:

I like it. Thanks for the idea! I was wanting to do something to get mine out of the way as well!

good idea. Got me thinking of where I could make a similar mount.

I was gonna copy this idea but geeze! I now see that would be far too dangerous!
Thank you all for saving my head, knees, toes, shoulders, knuckles, hand and wrist.

Nice job on the wall mount. I like it, despite the risk of them randomly flying off the wall to attack you ;)

What kind of VW do you have? I've got a '69 Beetle.

Thanks, I was a watercooled guy... Haven't owned one for a few years. My last was a 91 GTi with a VR6 swap and Autotech supercharger kit.. Pretty quick car. My buddy just got bought a 64? bug.. They are cool, just not me.

Yes, that's where I got it from... I didn't go for the attack position like you did though... I should have put them above a door (more dead space) and put a string on them to pull on people.. the new water bucket over a door trick. Would make a good punked episode!

Not sure you know this based on that comment but..... There should be tabs on the base that get hammered in to keep the perches from pulling up and out when picking them up, hanging, etc.

Jeez, you're lucky! My jackstands just keep staying under the cars, holding them up! If I keep them busy, they're too occupied to act on their aggressive tendencies.

Some day, in that mythical future when my cars are OFF the jackstands, I might just look into something like this.
