I had a boss way-back-when who knew everything. We no longer have a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, 'cause that guy knew who was buried there. He was smart enough, but had an odd way of combining old sayings during moments of stress.
He blurted out this sage favorite to my crew after a very frustrating confrontation:
"If you guys can't stand the heat on the stove, then either sh*t or get off the pot!"
Whoa. Don't think about that one too much.
During what was supposed to be a company cheerleading meeting, he stood up and told the employees,
"
Let's celebrate our good success, so everybody blow their drum or beat their trumpet!!!"
That got a rousing cheer from the men in the crew. The women didn't think much of the suggestion. Human resources had a field day. But he was the boss, after all, and he did know best.
