Give whatever you feel like giving... but if you need hints, here's a few.

Tool-wise, I guess I'm most lacking in machine tool accessories. I have a round column mill/drill and a G0602 lathe.

- Decent end mills are always useful.

- Decent center drills could come in handy too.

- Some kind of cutting tool cooling / chip evacuation setup would be nice.

- I can always use more "AXA" size #1 lathe tool holders.

- My wife says I have too many hats, I disagree.

- Give me a taste of your region... food, drink, condiments, etc. Whatever will make the trip and survive being under the tree for a month.

- If you send a t-shirt, I'm a 2XL.

I greatly appreciate anything so if someone has something in mind by all means go for it. I also know as being someone’s Santa this thread is very useful. I am super easy to shop for I have so many interests.

I don’t drink coffee or much beer I am however addicted to lemonade. I have a good wife so I don’t need the girlie things.
Things I like:
Boston Red Sox, Winnipeg Jets, Hartford Whalers, Washington State Cougars football

3rd generation Toyota 4Runner related things. I have a ‘99 SR5 for a DD. Toyota dealer license plates and other Toyota 4X4 garage decor. I love anything with the TRD logo. I like Toyota 4x4’s and trucks in general.

Mobil & Gulf oil & gas stuff. My grandfather owned a Gulf station in 40’s he purchased when he got home from WWII so Gulf is special to me

The arthritis in my back has taken away my love of working on motorcycles and classic trucks in the last year so I took up going fishing with my son. I have mostly been fishing for lake trout & panfish. Small tackle and fishing related items would be useful. I’d love a fly tying vice i’d like to start tying flys. Fly tying books would be useful as well

I too am a fan of my Santa’s regional offerings. One year I got chocolate candy from my Santa’s region and another year I got a state flag from my Santa’s home state. Both of those were awesome gifts I really enjoyed. Flags, food, seasonings or other trinkets from your area.

I also like Smith & Wesson, Waylon Jennings , candy, decals, license plates & good pens. I wear hats but have a small head. Shirt size XL

Tool wise I could use a small vise or a couple of 6” quick clamps

Hope this helped if need be. I look forward to anything I receive. Merry Christmas everyone

I’m good with anything really. Regional stuff is great, tools, stickers, hats, shirts (XL), anything car, truck, welding, machining, related. I’m not picky and can find a use for about anything.

I typically don't post in threads where guys tell their Secret Santa what they want. I don't ask for things - that's just not how I am. Besides, for me, getting stuff is not what it's all about. I enjoy the challenge of researching my recipient's posts and finding appropriate gifts.

Over the years this forum has grown, and it seems to me that it's harder to get to know all the members. Few of my posts tell you guys much about me. It seems that most of my posts are opinions about tools, a few tips and techniques, and the occasional (OK, OK more than occasional) smart *** remarks. So, I guess that I should tell you a little bit about me.

I'm 54 years old, but don't feel a day over 30 (with the exception of my back, and my poor eyesight). I have been married for 33 years, and have two grown kids. I've loved cars since I was a kid. I began my career as a dealership mechanic at 17. I worked as a mechanic, and then as an automotive machinist (that's a unit mechanic that also runs machine tools) for about 18 years. I managed a small body shop for a short time as well. Meanwhile, I earned a degree in mechanical engineering. I've done design engineering, manufacturing engineering and quality engineering. At present, I manage the quality systems for a manufacturing facility. Along the way, I've also done powder coating professionally, installed glass block windows, installed Rotary lifts, and owned a small surplus business.

I'm not into watching sports. Although, I will occasionally watch hockey or soccer. I played indoor soccer for years. I enjoy target shooting. I have a reasonably equipped hobby shop. I do some machining at home. Unfortunately, all I have is a small lathe, and no mill. I also enjoy metal fabrication. I don't smoke or drink coffee or wear hats. My shirt size is extra large. I do enjoy tequila and good craft beer. I collect key chains (amazingly enough, they are mostly tool related), 1/4 drive ratchets, 4" adjustable wrenches, and pocket screwdrivers. Collecting vises is another of my vices. Although I have parted with most of them. I'm down to about a dozen. My latest automotive project is a '92 Jeep YJ with about 80k miles. It's my first venture into offroading. I also own a '94 Dodge Ram truck, a '40 Oldsmobile, a '84 VW Jetta GLI, and a '59 Anglia (that weird English Ford). I like to use vintage tools. I keep them in vintage Lista and Mac boxes.

I'm sure that anything that my SS sends will be wonderful. All my Secret Santas in years past have sent super cool gifts to me. Thanks to all of you. I will do my best to give my victim gifts that he will enjoy. Hell, that's more fun than getting stuff anyway. :rocker:

I'm good with anything. I'm an A&P mechanic and electrician by trade, welder & fabricator by hobby. I have a LOT of electrical tools, but am always looking to expand my A&P tool collection. For those looking for suggestions, I've definitely been on the hunt for some used cylinder base wrenches for Lycoming / Continental (1/2", 9/16", 5/8", 3/4"), anything SAE for fitting into tight spaces (stubbies, crowsfeet, etc.).

Tool promo clothes are cool too. Women's XL shirts. I'm not a fan of hats but love beanies.

Another cool gift idea would be a GJ Alliance membership, which is cool and also benefits this great place!

With that said, will love anything! :)

The romantic hills of central Umbria, Italy,
Because I ran into this last year (my cihimney-tender, AKA recipient) had no clues about what he would like (makes it tough!!) So, while I like pretty much anything, in addition to the usual Garage stuff.

(Last year, my Santa was from a foreign country, and I got about a whole BUNCH of cool goodies from there - including a lot of stuff that I found EXTREMELY useful this past year. The year before I got a VERY cool antique book on shop techniques - looks like a school book from the early 1900's - I fell in love with) ...

I'm into antique books (especially technical ones), airplanes, old car or motorcycle stuff, or just about anything that's cool, different, and unique! I'm also a musician and... well... with a name like Lassen Forge, you can probably guess my affection for beating the snot out of hot metal!

Of course, Santa baby, I'm also into furs, diamonds, rubies, Lamborghinis*, Mercedes**, yachts, manhattan high rises, platinum mines, and gold coins...
(* Not just the cars, but the tractors as well!)
(** Same as above, plus my favorite former work truck was a Unimog... Miss that beast!)

So there's my confessional. --grins--

Cool things. Cool things are always fun!

I love books on machining and tooling for mills/lathes, taps/dies, etc. General tools are also lovely. Also, just books in general.

Food is food and my belly appreciates it always.

Pretty much if you think it's cool, awesome.

Happy holidays!

First time so here goes.

I could always use a bigger garage. lol I like old tool catalogs, 1930's to the 1970's. I collect WWII and Korean War stuff. I shoot .45, 38 Special and .223 but I dont reload. Old tools from the 40's & 50's are always a win.

What ever I get will be great.

Whoever draws my name will get no help from me... lol

The only things I want but don't have are because they're too expensive. Think unique, things in your area that we don't have in FL, handmade etc... The gift will be the surprise. :)

I'm pretty "new" to this forum and have recently started upgrading my tools. I don't have any flex head ratchets, stubby, palm, or long handle ratchets (I just bought a 1/4 long handle). I did buy some standard snap-on ratchets, I have 2 of each 1/4, 3/8, but only one snap-on 1/2. I do woodworking and like to refurbish older power equipment. Jack of all, Master of none.

I've been talking with a pretty famous woodworker in this area and he said I should get some spokeshaves and some different planes.

Kreg jigs are really cool. I also bought a Harbor Freight workbench and it didn't have any of the dogs.

I'll edit this, but I'm pretty easy. I'll be happy with anything someone sends. Don't worry about going out of your way, used tools or homemade things are fine.

For me? I'm pretty eclectic, but I don't like asking for stuff. So I'll just lay out all my interests.

I collect quality knives, anvils, hammers, blacksmith stuff, railroad stuff(specifically Santa Fe), have a gun habit that won't quit, have a love of chemistry, physics, history and antique/vintage anything that is interesting. I'm a gear-head and love LS engines and turbos and have never said no to a good plate of BBQ. I restore antiques as my time and patience allows along with going to auctions being my guilty pleasure.

The ultimate 4 food groups are beans, bacon, whiskey, and lard; so that should cover the edibles category.

XL t-shirt

If nothing else, just a card is always nice because its neat having a connection outside the area I roam.

I can't wait to see who I get! The wife has been excited as well. The dog is running circles in anticipation and the cat couldn't give a damn less (but he and I don't speak much).

I should add, I have a wife and 3year old son who both like to spend time in the shop with me. My son is really into cars, trains, and planes, if you get something for him and not me, I would be more than happy with that! That kid is my world!

I’m looking forward to this once again! I’ve received some truly AWESOME gifts in the past, but for me going out and shopping for my (un?)lucky recipient is one of the few things I really look forward to every holiday season. It’ll be a bit of a challenge this year with work (24 hours on duty / 24 hours off, until at least mid-January), but that’s what Amazon is for, right?!?

I have no requests for my GJSS. The things I want the most (great wife, faithful dog, good career I enjoy, etc),I already have. If you happen to get a shirt, I wear a medium. If you decide to make a donation to a charity in my name, a card will be great to read. If you elect to send tools, I’m not a tool snob. Have fun with it, and feel free to share something unique to your area/region!

Pretty much a copy/paste from previous years...

I'm not a sports guy and don't wear hats, I do drink coffee and alcohol.

I've got a '66 GMC and a '29 Essex so anything related to hot rods in general ie - posters, signs, stickers, hot rod company swag, magnets etc. I collect Phillips 66 and Pepsi stuff. Any of the stuff mentioned above in clothing (XL) is cool too.

Tool wise I need a new dead blow as mine has a hole in it and has been this way for years LOL. I don't have any pullers (3 jaw) and I'm sure my buddies are getting tired of me borrowing them. Otherwise I'm fairly well stocked in the tool department.

I like powder coating, so any supplies like high temp tape, silicone caps/plugs and even powder would be awesome. Send me your favorite color if you want.

Honestly I don't care what I get, it's the thought that counts. I do the SS because I like to give, the getting part is a bonus to me.

I collect to many things LOL. I am just as happy with used as new stuff
Tools , Craftsman, especially Crown logo stuff from the 60's and 70's. Dunlap, Companion, Sears brand anything old.
Old tape measures for my collection, especially ones with advertising on them.
Regional food, nuts, candy, jerky, whatever. I don't have any allergies thankfully.
T-shirts are OK if they are tool related, I wear a L or XL.
Sports teams I follow are GB Packers and Wisconsin Badgers.
I am originally from Wisconsin.

I don't really need anything so I'll share some of my interests. In my free time I enjoy Kayaking and Mountain biking. I have a Jeep Wrangler that is always needing repair. I hope to start a 2 car detached garage in the not so distant future. Tool wise I have hand tools of various brands to tinker on the Jeep and help Dad keep his old tractors running and hopefully resurrect my granddad's old Chevy dumptruck or Dad's old Corvair . I like to try regional foods, I wear an XL t shirt. I am the third owner of a house that is over 100 years old. I found this forum looking for Garage ideas and found two Snap -on tool boxes on here relative close that needed some attention. In colder weather I enjoy taking on projects like that. I am not picky and will appreciate whatever. I am looking forward to this as its my first online secret Santa.

I've been on this forum for a few years and definitely acquired a lot of tools because of it. Personally, I favor American-made tools as well as German and Japanese. I have a lot of hand tools, but I feel that there is so much knowledge on this forum that you guys could find cool stuff that I have never even heard of.

Right now, I am finishing my basement which has been a big learning curve. I've gotten into woodworking as a result and have built a lot of cabinets recently. I've spent a lot of time reading through the Woodworking 101 thread and am really getting interested in finding some old planes.

I would love woodworking tools, but would appreciate anything. Old planes, chisels, rasps. I would really love anything that I can't just go out and buy in a store. Some of you guys are amazing at finding and restoring vintage stuff. I love things with a story.

I also have a soft spot in my heart for old ratchets.

I am very blessed and lucky in life. You don't need to go crazy on me. Really, anything would be appreciated. I'm not really into t-shirts or hats.

Some of my interests include, hot rod related t-shirts ( xl),posters, anything from your area or region, ball caps ( tool or car related ), anything Chevy, home made, or what ever you would like to send. Don't go bankrupt or spend more than you need to. I'm a garage nut that loves hot rods, welding and metal fab, drag racing. and tinkering with machines.

I’m in this year for the fun of the giving. I have had a great year, where I feel I have been blessed more than I deserve, and really don’t have a huge need for anything. Whatever I get is awesome!

Anything old/antique. I recently switched jobs from automotive technician to agricultural technician. Anything Case IH related is awesome.

I love tool advertisements, flags, garage art type stuff. I am a Ford and GMC/Chev guy. I love beer in the garage, and I love coffee in the garage more.

Any quality tools, made wherever, are fantastic. And anything that I can’t get in Canada!

Looking forward to this again!

I am a terrible candidate and feel bad for the person that draws my name.

Having said that, I like the color blue, hope that helps. ;)

This is my 2nd GJSS. Had fun putting together a special holiday gift for my recipient last year and I'm super excited to participate again this year.

As for me I'm blessed to have a wonderful wife and 4 daughters, all of whom like to hang out with me sometimes in the garage. I've been involved in the tire and auto service business for as long as I can remember. I've always loved antiques, signs and other garage art and this year I got hooked on old USA vises pretty bad. This has also led me into metalworking a bit.

I don't really wear hats. I wear an XL shirt. Only a sports fan when it comes to baseball. I don't usually drink beer but when I do its a wheat beer. I love everything Chevy truck and can't wait to someday soon start a vintage truck project. I'm mostly just excited to share some GJ holiday cheer!

This is my first year signing up so I am thrilled to be able to participate. I've mostly been a lurker, but a few of my posts would give you some ideas most likely. I'll tell you a little about myself here to make it easier. I just put up a toolbox/shop tour so that will give some insight as well: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6846458#post6846458

I am a 26 year old single guy (if you've got an attractive daughter maybe :dunno:....o nevermind :bounce:), and unlike a lot of folks on this board, do not have a full time job that involves tools anymore. I do diabetes research for a medical school at a state university. I approach tool buying from the perspective of a collector who plans to use them with some frequency, so I like cool and unique tools, but generally only if they're something I have a use for. For example, I bought a bit/brace at a flea market because I thought it was cool, but now it just takes up space and isn't giving me any joy. I could however, put to use a cool USA made ratchet or a unique set of wrenches, or what have you.

I have been a gear head since I got my first car at 16 years old, and have spent a lot of time/effort/money on hot rodding ever since. I am an old soul and a late adopter so new tech things would likely be wasted on me. I currently drive a 2001 Dodge Ram, and a 1994 Honda Magna Motorcycle (no hot rod right now...damn student loans:sad:).

Mainly do automotive repair/modification so tools in this area are best. Some basic woodworking also occurs from time to time.

Just bought into the M18 Milwaukee line. Have just the basic brushed combo kit right now.

Just started building my Pneumatic tool arsenal as well, it currently contains 1 1/2dr Ingersoll Rand Impact, 1 straight die grinder, and some basic Impact sockets from Harbor Freight.

Sucker for Craftsman and Carlyle brand tools, signs, shop decor, etc.

Only own one tool truck brand tool...and it's a Snap On pry bar I found under the hood of a humvee in the army haha! I don't dislike those brands, but I just can't ever justify the pricing.

Always down for unique/special hand tools (ratchets, wrenches, etc), anything with a story will probably be cherished forever because I'm sentimental as ****. :D

Interested in American muscle, both 60's/70's and current. Mopar is the fave but not a total snob about it. :pimpflash

I don't wear hats, but I do drink craft beer, love all the hot rod TV shows, and I have a 4 month old yellow lab pup.

Happy Holidays

Its easier to give a background for me so Ill sort of copy what I have from last year.

University chemical engineering student, I love woodworking, restoring antique/vintage tools and machines, and I sometimes dabble in metal working ( blacksmithing mainly). I also enjoy computers and games. I don't wear hats. I also do all of my own car work and can do everything that does not involve timing or transmissions. I drink a lot of coffee and appreciate good beer. I wear XXLT T-shirts.

I prefer to build my own things over buying them so anything that helps me make it easier on myself is a blessing (jigs, squaring, clamps, etc).

I don't have any quality tap & dies, their HF ones. I already stripped out their tap wrench after 3 uses.

I'm a sucker for Craftsman. Also any general high quality tools that I can put in my red and gray Craftsman rally box for on the go jobs or repairs would be perfect as well!

Really anything thats sent could be used, 85% of my tools were bought used anyways so don't feel you have to go out and buy something new.

I think I practically took the hunt out for my GJSS ... Just surprise me! Not with spiders though!

This is basically a copy & paste from last year
I'm not into wearing hats, sports or fine wine. I am a cheap date and have more than enough tools , I could use a 3/4f to 1"m impact adapter so I can use a 3/4 breaker bar on my 1" drive sockets
some garage art like a clock etc (67 Camaro or chevy product from the 60's or suprise me with something) a tshirt in xlg or xxlg .
A few years ago I picked up a Standard Modern 13" Metal Lathe 2000 Series, made a few things on it. , a book on lathe work for dummies would be cool.
hope this helps.
anything I recieve will be greatly appreciated

Here is some information on my interests.
I enjoy working on vehicles. I especially enjoy automotive electrical work.
I also enjoy working on the house and in the garage. I also enjoy woodworking.
I really like Snap On, DeWalt (especially 20v stuff), Bosch, Channellock, Knipex. I have a lot of other brands as well including US Craftsman stuff.
Don't really need many tools, although there's always wants and some cool interesting tools that you just have to have.
I am looking to fill some empty spots in the ends of my Hansen socket trays which hold my 6 point Snap On chrome sockets in 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" drives.
I drive a Ford Superduty, just bought a John Deere 1025R and am not into sports at all except some Nascar.
I wear a XXL shirt, just don't prefer huge logos on the front of my shirts.
Hope this helps a little. Feel free to use your imagination if these ideas don't help.
I'm looking forward to being surprised like I was last year.
Really looking forward to this years GJSS.

Just a few ideas to help my secret Santa since I, too, am told that I am difficult to buy for. I will appreciate whatever I get, however. Thank you!

- I like tools by Snap On, Mac, Proto, Plomb, Matco, Knipex, Xcelite, etc. someday, I would like to get a full set of Proto punches/chisels.

- my pliers drawer is very important to me. Knipex is one of my favorite brands, but I like better stuff like Tronex, Lindstrom etc. USA, German, Japanese, Swiss. Generally, I like well-made tools.

- I do a lot of electronics work, audio and instrument (like vintage keyboards; see my Hammond organ thread) restoration work. I restore and build MCM/modernist furniture, and I'm getting into joinery, so I appreciate good woodworking tools/jigs. I also build bicycles and audio amplifiers

- Good electronics test and repair equipment Is always of interest to me (Variac, variable DC power supply, Flukes, ESR/capacitance tester, soldering equipment, mini pliers, nice tweezers, etc.

- love a good hammer (ball peen, mallet, brass), punches, chisels, precision screwdrivers, tweezers

- somehow, I don't have a half-inch drive metric socket set... also, I'm missing a few sizes in almost every one of my sets because I bought my sockets secondhand. I'll get a list of the missing sizes and add it to this.

- I'm always having to borrow an OBD II scanner and coolant pressure tester *adapter* from my buddy who owns an auto shop.
I need a better finish hammer (16oz or so) and a good set of calipers

- I'm not a huge fan of knick knacks, but I do like a nice piece now and again. In general, though, I'm mostly looking for tools. I'm not a sports fan, except for cycling. Also, I don't drink anything but water.
