Because I found this by the dumpsters!! Mostly filled with nuts, bolts, fittings, etc, but did score some decent tools. I'm just psyched to have the big side box with drawers and the Waukesha Diesel emblem. .

lol yea I'm pretty fortunate I just went back out there and found these gems. Basically brand new Rubbermaid cart and a side self from another tool box.

They throw away massive amounts of good stuff every week here. This is only part of the pile

You ****

Have you gone out there a third time yet today.

I was so excited when I saw the tool box I didn't bother looking around. I just rolled it into my shop. After I started going through it, I realized there are probably more treasures out there since a senior HVAC supervisor retired last Friday the 13th.... The other mechanics in his department cannibalized all the good stuff I'm sure, but I'm happy with the scraps they left behind.

Boy are they wasting money. Must be a Gubmint agency or somebody that is not held accountable. I remember my boss ******* away money at the end of the year so his budget would not be reduced.

I suddenly feel compelled to visit Connecticut, and have no idea why... :headscrat

I don't either. All the good stuff is in my shop. Seriously that's nothing though. There is a $2000 all stainless steel sink outside my shop that a Dr didn't like so it's garbage...,

I had to replace the mop bucket at my building recently like the yellow one in the "trash" pile. Those things are expensive.

I'm looking at the tall gray cabinet wondering what it is.

What a wasteful place, good for you OP!

Sadly, it seems many hospitals are like that.

Most of that stuff, if it's even mildly tweaked, is considered a safety risk, and has to be disposed of.

I've picked a couple things up out of one of our hospital's discard pile, but there's never been any treasure like this. Probably all gets scavenged by the facilities engineers before I get there. :D

That's classified. You're not getting anything!

It's a hospital. I work in the engineering department. Piles like this build weekly. It's pretty amazing.
No wonder they charge 5 bucks for an asprin.

Waukesha Engine hasn't built a Diesel engine in about 30 years. They went Natural Gas and never went back. They have been bought by GE who is moving the manufacturing out of Waukesha, Wisconsin to Canada. Seems like Waukesha Engine lasted 120(124?) years in Waukesha.
Nice Emblem! They are coveted by the old timers who used to work the Diesel lines at the plant.
Did you know that the Diesel engines in the bottom of the World Trade Center were still providing Emergency Power when the Towers came down on top of them?
Waukesha Engine has one of the salvaged engines in there Customer Display area.

Yea the old GE plant is literally a stones throw from the hospital. They were known for natural gas generators in hospitals and that's exactly what we used to have. They were way before my time, but occasionally I find some GE or Waukesha remnants laying around. My grandmother worked for GE. On the other side of the hospital, again just a stones throw, is Remington Arms. My grandfather worked there. It's sad to see these massive buildings empty and falling apart. Just two of many large, dominant names that are no longer around here in southern CT.

That's pretty incredible. A lot of good names are gone, Perkins is one that comes to mind.

By gone I include bought out and reduced to badges on someone else's stuff. Guess that is how the world is going.

Are they hiring?? LOL!!! U ****. If you wait long enough, you'll probably never have to buy any tools or hardware again.
