If you are going to install them yourself, leave 1/2 inch to 1 inch gap or space from the perimeter walls. This will allow your floor to expand and contract. If you don't, you may have a good chance of you floor buckling in the summer. This is the reason I choose to offer and install a different flooring system for my clients. Regardless they are basically all the same. Plastic tiles. It is what it is.

1/4 of an inch is fine, In my experience.

Just curious -- have you looked at Race Deck floor tiles? They're less expensive than the Gladiator tiles, and if you do a search in this forum, you'll find a ton of people that have used them with virtually 100% satisfaction. I have a small area of MotoFloor tiles, which are made by RaceDeck, that I park my motorcycles on. 42 sq. ft. for $69 on sale can't be beat.

BTW, I take from your screen name you're a Iowa State grad? Class of '85 here.

Iowa State Grad of 03 from the Industrial Tech department. I have looked at others but I’m getting a great deal form gladiator garage at almost ½ off the price. Plus one of its sister companies is Amana which has a plant in Iowa.
