I believe you can wall mount the wall cabinets directly to studs/ plywood. But I choose to go with this path so I have the ability to move the cabinets all around and mix and match them with other gladiator hooks. The gladiator stuff in general does go on sale often. I started looking for stuff this past winter and its taken me this long to slowly piece stuff together waiting for sales.

Its either one 4'x6" gear track and get the second free or buy a two pack of 4'x1' gear wall and get the second two pack free

Is this stuff used, or necessary, for mounting all of the Gladiator stuff to the wall, like cabinets etc.? Does it go on sale regularly?

I hung my Gladiator 30" cabinets to the studs using a french cleat. I had a little trouble getting them all leveled and squared up, which wouldn't be such a problem with the Geartrack.

So no, not necessary, but maybe a bit more convenient.

fyi - the track also seems to be giving $5 sywr points, effectively making the track $8+ tax for two pieces. It's about as cheap as it gets. Rinse, repeat as necessary.

It is true. Sears gave $5 after each order. It keeps me making orders.

So how do you get the deal? Just put 1 in your cart?

I just ordered 2 and gear wall sets in two seperate orders and it didn't give me an option - is there a cose you have to enter?

I bought three large (tall) Gladiator cabinets during an end of model warehouse close out sale. I believe the model is S2. I also bought several packages of the wall racks. The tall cabinet's instructions recommend three. Nice looking cabinets, and good for light items. Can hold up to 250 lbs.

Buy the wall mounts if you want the versatility to move the wall hung Gladiator cabinet easily a few inches left or right. Otherwise, bolt three 2x4 to the wall cut to the indented dimensions on the back, and bolt the Gladiator to the 2x4. If I wrre to elevate the other two i bought, that is how i would do it. I don't plan to move them around. Easier to mount on 2x4 than the Gladiator wall racks. And the 2x4 method is more sturdy, and less expensive. That is how I hung my small Newage cabinets. See more at my "Wall of Steel" thread.

Does your Gladiator Geartrack come with screws? or any pre-drilled hole on the track?

Nope, color-matched screws run $5.99 for a pack of 32. But stay away from them and buy the Husky brand at Home Depot. $4.99 for the same 32, but they are star drive w/ an included bit. I've put up probably 15-20 boxes worth and only broke one screw.

No need for pre-drilling, it's pretty soft material. Just line them up on your studs and rip.
