Hi Guys,

I got my 30" cabinets (10 of them) and I am now lookingfor a decent deal on Gear Track or Gear Wall to hang them on..

My first inclination was to just paint up some 1x4 and put them across the studs and then lag bolt the cabinets with fender washers to the 1x4's.

Then I started thinking about how much time I am going to put into that project etc.. So trading money for time, I started looking at the tracks and walls..

I found this place and was wondering if they were a good vendor and is the price okay?

What did you do?

Thoughts on price and vendor?

Sure seems to be a lot of dough for extruded plastic... :eyecrazy:

Sears had Geartrack for BOGO last week. Not sure if the sale is still on but worth a try.

Over the past few weeks, I've found deals vary by GearWall product. Sears had a BOGO on the 4' gearwall 2-pack. At $129 or so, the price was rediculous. At the BOGO $64.99 seemed a decent deal. Now $64 is their "hot deal" price without the BOGO. On the accessories, sometimes it is cheaper to buy direct from Gladiatorgarageworks.com I just bought some track from them. Their 4' single channel is on promotion right now with a BOGO offer.

If you just want the track for the cabinets, go directly to gladiator. It was the best deal I've found by far (not the case with the gearwall or accessories, just the track)

Have you thought about a french cleat?

Oui like French cleats!
Actually, HangMan has a metal French cleat, 30" wide that is rated @ 300#.
Our local ACE carries them as do many of the picture frame shops and Lowe's has them as well. They are seldom on sale, so it's where I use my ACE 'regular price only' coupons or 'regular price' deals at WoodCraft.

Not as cheap as ripping a two-by, but pretty cool IMO.

Huh...looks like you can go semi-direct and get free shipping on a $50 order!
We're headed for a new townhouse, so I might be looking to order some myself!!!

That's what I'm doing all over my walls with scrap wood. That track stuff is ridiculously expensive. Even without using scrap wood, I can do an entire wall 9 inches apart vertically with a sheet of plywood for the cost of two 8' strips.

I have 1 wall done and have 4 shelves hung, my extension ladder hooks hung, a couple of hooks for table saw accessories and I have a couple of boxes and cabinets to make yet. So far I have $6 invested in a box of screws to attach them to the wall.

I actually just got my gladiator cabinets delivered from that site. Got a great deal on them thru those guys. I ordered the set of 2 cabs that came with track. Wound up mounting my cabinets straight to the studs though. Just used some lags straight into the studs. Planning to use the track elsewhere.

Have you looked at versa track from sears?

Do you know for sure if the Versa Track panels are compatible with the Gladiator accessories and cabinet mounts? They are a lot less expensive than the Gladiator GearTrack..

Looks like I missed out on the Gladiator BOGO. :willy_nil

The Hangman French Cleats are pretty interesting, but a bit on the pricey side as well.. I like the built in levels in the wall side cleat.. Obviously something that drives the price up.

I may make my own French Cleats too.. I have a table saw I could rip some Oak 1x6 with..

Still pondering.. It's going to be a couple of months before I can hang the cabinets anyway..

Lowes will also sometimes run a buy one, get one on the 48" tracks, and they are between $9-11 varying. I picked up the 8 foot lengths on searsoutlet.com. Some had minor damage on the ends, and some where fine. Basically if one of the pieces were damaged, they refused the whole box. So might have 1 with damage and 1 perfect.

I used 1x4 bolted into studs, I felt the time tradeoff was worth the expense of having to mount two rows of geartrack to get my cabinets up.
