Gladiator GearTrack Vs Rubbermaid FastTrack

I'm considering investing in either Gladiator GearTrack or Rubbermaid FastTrack to help hang some yard tools and such on the wall of my garage. I like of being able to move/rearrange easily and the variety of hooks/baskets. Does anyone here know of any big differences between the two? Recommendations and opinions are appreciated.

I've been looking at these as well, but haven't made the purchase yet. I am leaning towards the Rubbermaid FastTrack because of the low price.
I'm not sure if your are thinking about installing Gladiator gear wall panels (ie covering a large portion of the wall, so you have complete flexibility on where the hooks and hangars go). That is a very good approach, but very expensive.
If you just plan on using the GearTrack, then I'd go with the Rubbermaid version. They recommend installing 2 strips - one high and one low (specific height recommendations are on the package), but this seems to me that it would provide sufficient versatility.
On the downside, if you plan on expanding later, there is not much more to the Rubbermaid line, whereas Gladiator has all the cabinets/workbenches, etc. that would help you keep a unified look.

I did a comparison of both systems and the accessories available about a year ago.

The main differences are that the Rubbermaid system is much better if you want a lot of reconfigurable shelving, and the Gladiator system is much better if you want to organize smaller hand tools and the such.

For gardening/yard tools, both systems would be suitable, you just have to decide what your secondary storage needs are. Potting soil, chemicals, get the Rubbermaid and add shelving. Hammers, screwdrivers, small parts, smaller garden tools, the Gladiator system.

In the long run, it is not terribly uneconomical to use the better parts and features of both storage system types.

Definitely NOT.

But, there's no reason as to why one cannot use the Rubbermaid system for shelving and to hang garden tools, with a Gladiator GearChannel and accessories holding hand tools on the same wall.

But they are most certainly not compatible with each other, i.e. you cannot attach a Rubbermaid accessory to a Gladiator GearChannel, or the other way around.

I opted for Gladiator.
More expensive, but more versatile - with Gearwall (8'x2' wall pannels), and Geartrack, (single track units.)
Lots of attatchments, baskets, hooks etc.
Works with the smaller stuff.
Strong too.
Goes on sale alot, so watch for those.
Sears, and Lowes.

Wow! E46M3, what an intelligent, clean and efficient design. I'll be looking for this clean style for my shop. I think you are right. If you know where you want the big cabinets to go and you want flexibility elsewhere. Why spend the extra money on one system?
