Has anyone attempted to use metal inserts, such as these http://www.kc-store-fixtures.com/slatwall-aluminum-inserts/ in the channels of the Gladiator Gearwall product. Supposed benefit is increased strength but I wanting to do it primarily for the aesthetic. The increased strength, if any, would just be a bonus.
I was also looking at http://www.kc-store-fixtures.com/colorsnap-red/ which is similar to the metal insert but made of plastic.
Finally, an option is http://www.kc-store-fixtures.com/sl...sert-roll-red-.010-thick-x-1-wide-x-130-long/ which can be installed after the Gearwall is installed which is nice.
My concerns with the metal inserts is that they reduce the channel height and depth somewhat so maybe Gladiator Gearwall products could not be mounted.
Essentially the same concerns for the plastic, form-fitting, channel inserts. They too would take up some room inside the channel.
The vinyl roll insert seems the cheapest and easiest way to go especially if putting them into an existing Gearwall installation. Primary reason to post the question is to determine if the metal inserts would work and still allow attaching any Gladiator cabinet, hook, etc. If so, I may go that route just for the added strength. Of course the strength thing could just be marketing hype. I dunno.
