That seems like a pretty good deal on the Bamboo work bench. Are there any advantages of Bamboo in comparison to Maple?

I just noticed that the bench is not adjustable, which is kind of a bummer.

Doing the Math, that seems to be a 5 1/2 foot Bamboo.

For comparison purposes:

Sears is having the full 6 foot Maple, with adjustable legs, for $249.99 on Black Friday.

I think the advantages of Bamboo are that it is better for the environment, cheaper for the manufacturer, and doesn't warp as bad as Maple. That's why you see a lot of cutting boards using Bamboo, because they don't warp from washing in water compared to hard woods.

But I'm old school, and would go with Maple over Bamboo.

Bamboo is technically a "grass", not a "wood". And grows very fast. Therefore, considered more of a renewable resource compared to cutting down 100 year old Maple trees.

The bamboo is hard on your tools if you want to drill or route into it.

I did a mini review on the adjustable height version - http://toolguyd.com/gladiator-adjustable-height-workbench-review/ . It is VERY sturdy, much sturdier than the non-adjustable one I saw I saw in-store locally.

$99 would typically be the Hot Deal price on the 30x30 welded. But that's getting harder and harder to find, and fewer and farther between.

I think $119 is the "new normal" for the Hot Deal. Basically since the suggested retail went from $199 to $239, so 50% off price went up accordingly.

Most Sears/HomeDepot/Lowes deals should be available online and in-store. Certain deals are in-store only, but most are available online Thursday before stores even open on Friday.
