Hi all,
I'm wondering if there is any difference between the Gladiator preassembled cabinets and the Ready-to-assemble ones. only thing I can see is that the bolts show on the RTA ones but that wouldn't bother me.

anyone have experience with both?

I understand the whole "you have to assemble it" part, I'm wondering about quality and durability?

thanks

chris

I have looked at both and decided to go with their pre-assembled line. I wanted the mobile base cabinets, and with the RTA series, that costs extra. Also, it may not be true, but the welded cabinets seemed to be constructed of thicker steel and definitely feel sturdier. The magnetic closure on the welded series is nicer also. And the price really wasn't much more for the welded units since I found them all on sale over the course of a couple months through Sears.

thanks for the info, that's what I needed to hear. I'm sticking with the preassembled welded ones.

After assembling a ton of the standard ones, I would also recommend the welded ones if they are within your price range..

Though not bad cabinets the diy ones are kind of a PITA to work with, and the manufacturing tolerances vary a little on the bends, some panels required a little massaging with a rubber mallet and 2x4 to straighten..

I have both of these. They both are great for my home shop use. Always keep an eye on Lowes and Sears, both run sales on these through out the year.
