Gladiator shelves/cabinets on Versatrack?

I understand that it’s well-established that Craftsman Versatrack stuff fits on Gladiator tracks, and generally that the reverse is not true. But I’m wondering if the shelves and cabinets attach differently, and might fit on Versatrack rails.

Some background: I’m planning on putting three GearTrack rails around my garage, six inches apart, but also placing pegboard strips beteeen them over my workbench. This would be somewhat easier with VersaTrack because of the pegboard groove. I’d also be able to use the VersaTrack hook on Craftsman tools without modification (it doesn’t quite work on Gladiator; the tab is too long.)

KennyJ I have some Gladiator cabinets that are several years old so I'm not sure how the design of the cabinet hanging cleats may have changed since then.

I tried to take a picture showing how the tabs on the hooks take up more vertical space than the cabinet cleats.

As I understand your post you wish to use the Versatrack with the understanding that the Gladiator hooks won't work? But you're hoping that the different profile of the cabinet cleats will fit the Versatrack?

If so, I hope this picture helps. I don't have any Versatrack to compare. I think your idea at least has a chance of working since the profiles are so much different in height.

The Gladiator cabinet cleats are about 3 1/4" tall. The Gladiator hook profile is about 3 15/16" tall.

The hook I measured looks like one of the rare ones that I had to bend to get it to fit the track and I may have taken it a hair too far so actual height might be closer to 4".

Thank you! I think I'm probably going to stick with Gladiator, but it looks like it would have a halfway decent chance of working with Versatrack if I ever tried that.

Let me know if you need any detailed measurements of the Gladiator cabinet cleats.

Another thought is using the Gladiator Gear Wall instead of the Gear Track.

It has a tongue and groove system and it could be installed with the upper track groove facing down and the lower track groove facing up. Slide pegboard into those grooves.
