Okay, so how'd you get em? Who'd you talk to?

My wife wants to call and yell at the guy she talked to yesterday. :shocking:

Yes, I'm serious. :

I stopped at the store on east 40 & they were out. The manager looked in the computer & told me the west Marion store had three. I didn't know about that store & went to the store on 200. They were out also, but the lady at the service counter checked the computer & called the west Marion store who said they had three.
Drove to the store and bought all three. They wouldn't sell the display though.

I ended up getting the display model for $19.50, it had no key (big deal one key fits all) and then there was a white mark on the side, I took some windex to it and it came right off at home... OOOhh Yessss!

If you need a key, PM me your address, and I'll send you one.
I got 2 cabinets, with 2 keys each.

I had a store match the price for me on 3 more units. I now have the 4 that I wanted. :)

Did you try showing them your old receipt, they might price match it for you. I picked up 3 today and they price matched a receipt.

I bought 5 early today. Went to another Lowe's 3 hours later and they were $59. I showed them the $29 receipt and they wouldn't price match. Gave me some bs about inventory, then I explained to them that the other Lowe's had 5 and they have 3. That just seemed to confuse them. Pretty quick way to lose a sale. I'm going to look at another one tomorrow if I get a chance. I'd like to get 5 more.

Just got back from getting a couple!! They were priced $59 on the shelf, but I told the service manager they were clearanced even more elsewhere. He called a couple of stores in the area and finally found one that had it for $29.50 They only had 2 left(the amount I wanted anyways), but 1 was on the top shelf and I didn't really look around too much for any other since they supposely had 6 in stock. So, on this note, if you are in IL, here is the breakdown on who has what in the area I am in:

Orland Park, IL- 2
Kankakee, IL- supposely 8
Carol Stream, IL- supposely 6, but I bought 2.

If you go to any of these stores and they are $59, have them call the Schaumburg store to get the price match at $29.50.

Thanks for posting this great deal, hopefully the full size cabinet goes on clearance cheap too!!!

Lowe's buyers couldn't be dim enough to think that these are so popular now (Can't keep them on the shelf!) that they are raising the price and re-ordering and stocking them could they? That would be funny if Lowe's ordered in another 1000 units-they sat there for a couple of years and then they cleared them out again at $29.50.

I can almost hear them in Lowe's computer center saying "Look-we have a real trend showing here. Just all of a sudden these wall units are a big deal all over the us. Better place a huge order right away before the trend fades. Gotta cash-in on trends"

Maybe Gladiator will see this and take the hint. "We can't sell but a few cabinets a week in this economy, but if we drop the price enough we can sell hundreds in just a matter of days"

It just makes you wonder how much one of these actually cost coming off of the "slow boat":wtf:

These days, I would assume that marketing teams are smart enough to use google. Typing in "gladiator lowes" or "gladiator sale lowes" brings up several hits immediately to the sale.

Plus, I'm sure that there are pricing trends as well. You don't see such spikes in activity randomly, and I am sure that it must show somewhere that the cabinets were reduced in price.

If someone at corporate saw such a spike in activity, they would surely have tried to find out why. I am also under the impression that stores have some leeway in deciding what and how much to reorder. That's why certain keychain things went on clearance at a Lowes near me a few months ago - someone at the store accidentally ordered a few thousand and they've been sitting around in a box for too long.

Have there been any accounts of two GJ members showing up at the same time and same Lowes for these? This would be the perfect senario for a face to face meeting with sombody on this board. Also, we have got to hit 40K-45K in total sales valued at $119 if we havent allready. Thanks to Kevin for keeping up with the math.

Eh..Im really kicking myself for not picking them up last weekend when it was first mentioned here..
Looks like the $29 is definitely in the past :(

Volume is everything in retail.. Theres no question they saw the demand and raised the price. Most likely the stores will be restocking with this item in no time. But like Ive said..$59 is a better price than $118..but still not a really great deal for such a small cabinet. The sales on them will pretty much cease.

Thanks..I went ahead and printed one. Edit: actually looks like you can print as many as you want.. Good idea to print a few if youre like me and have unexpected Lowes trips a couple times a week.. Expires 3-2.
We used to get a lot of Lowes coupons mailed to our house (10% off, $10 off $50, etc, etc.) but havent gotten any in quite a while.

Just a note to others, the website is a bit slow because of overwhelming demand for the coupon.

I had this coupon last night when I went and picked up 2 cabinets and was not able to use it. They mentioned if they needed to override the price, you can not use the coupon since the system would not take it. More than likely they will need to override the price now since it appears most Lowes are at the $59 price.

Tom, you can print as many coupons as you want to, but each coupon appears to have a one-time-only code, so you will need to request several coupons as opposed to printing several copies.

That is what I just did, you have to have different numbers below the bar code.

He said he asked you if your wife had been by earlier. Is that right?

I'm glad they went to a GJ member at least. We've got 8 being held for us in Gainesville and are waiting on corporate to call back and confirm that they will sell them for the ~30 before we make the drive to pick em up.

I picked up 2 on Tuesday for $29.50, went back today for 2 more and they are $59. Went to the customer service desk and asked about the price difference and they were a bit confused but did match the $29.50 price for me. Also used the $10 coupon!!!
total for me = 4

Just bought all 5 at the Cleburne, Texas Lowes, including the display. They still had them marked $59.00 but I had printed a copy off of here (post 260, thanks Stuey) that shows the $29.50 tag and they sold them to me for that. Total was $158.93 with tax which comes out to $31.79 per cabinet with tax. I tried to use 2 of my $10 off coupons but they couldn't take them because they had to override the price to $29.50. If they been already marked down I could have used them. The store on Bryant Irving Rd. in FT. WORTH still has 13 in stock (2-19-09) but they are still marked at $59.00. If any of you are in the DFW area you might want to check them out and see if you can make a deal with them.

I'm in the DFW area, and I was able to visit 4 stores, and pick up 12 at the price of 29.50. Luckily my first stop was priced at 29.50, and the remaining stores had them for 118.00, and after 20 minutes of persistance, I was able to get them for the 29.50 price. Thanks guys for the info! Maybe I should sell them for $50 on Craigslist...JK! They are going up this weekend.

So whats the count now?

The count looks like it stands at 822 Garage Journal Member purchased Gladiator Cabinets:bounce:

On a side note 822 @ $29.50= $24,249.00
822 @ $118.00= $121,245.00

Difference of $96,996.00 :shocking:

I picked up 4 more today at another local lowes. They were priced at $59 and they matched again no problem to $29.50 using my other receipt.

My buddy saw mine and his dad wanted some too, he hit the lowes by his house yesterday and they had 13 @ $59, he just told them I had gotten at another lowes for $29 and they matched it with no receipt so he bought them all.

There must not be any GJ members in my area because I have about 8 lowes within 20-30min each direction of me and they have all seemed to have plenty of cabinets.

I need to stop by Lowes again tommorow to get some concrete and some cut-off wheels to get this cabinet project going... I'll hit a different store and who knows////

That makes the count 839 I guess..

This thread has 11,500 views but only 300 posts, wonder how many 100's other cabinets sold to readers that haven't posted.. And all the other forums posting about these too..

The $59 hike has got to be from the sales bump..
But at $59 I would not have purchased even 1 of these, and I'm sure many others would not have either.. The hike may indeed be a bad sales move on lowes part.

Picked up 6 tonight here. I screwed up and told them the price was 27.50 at another store and then matched it no questions asked.

I heard about these on another forum and I went down to my Lowes yesterday and they had like 8 left. The price though was $59 which I wouldn't buy them for that price. $30 is cool for them, but I don't like them much more than that. :)

I went back to the the lowes in Kirkwood, MO and picked up 4 more @ $29.50, making my total 10. With nearly 850 sold to GJ members, we'd better be seeing some pictures soon! ...Now if I only had time to assemble these things..! :headscrat

They are ALL saying $59 when I call now.

Of course I lost my receipt for the 4 that I did get, so I can't even try the price match trick.

traveling on business I found 13 that were marked $118. I spoke to the Manager and he called his HQ and was told that in fact they were on clearance for $59. I told the Manager a lot of "friends" had purchased at $29 but he said he can't budge. I guess I'll wait a week and see if they drop again to the $29 price.

Yeah, I called a few more stores. They were all out. One said he'd sell me the display..but the store is over an hour away. Not driving that far for one.
